Pope Leo XIV is back in St. Peter’s Square, smiling, waving and blessing babies just eight days after undergoing surgery for lung cancer.
The 71-year-old pontiff rides through cheering crowds in the popemobile before thanking the faithful for their prayers during his recovery.
"The first thing I want to say to you is thank you for the support and prayers," Leo tells the crowd.
Doctors say the cancer was caught early, offering an encouraging outlook as the pope gradually returns to his duties.

Protect your baby from measles with 2 doses of measles vaccine.
1️⃣ In countries where measles is common, it is vital to give the first dose around 9 months of age; in other countries, at 12-15 months of age.
2️⃣ Give the second dose later in childhood to ensure full protection.
Remember: Infants can be vaccinated around 6 months of age if there is an outbreak or before travel to endemic countries.

This Business Forum and Joint Permanent Commission might just be what East Africa needs - a boost to economic diplomacy!".
🇸🇴🇺🇬 DID YOU KNOW?
That Somalia is more than 2.6 times Uganda’s size, with an estimated population of 19.7 million people and 3,333 km of coastline? Its capital, Mogadishu, sits along the Indian Ocean, at a geographical crossroads linking East Africa with the Arabian Peninsula and wider international markets. For Ugandans, understanding Somalia means looking beyond familiar headlines to the people, markets, geography and commercial relationships that shape the country. As Somalia and Uganda convene tomorrow for the Business Forum, Joint Exhibition and Joint Permanent Commission, the opportunity is to turn geographical proximity into stronger commercial connections. A country is more than its challenges. It is also its people, its markets and its potential. 📍 Mogadishu, Somalia | 20–23 October 2026 #DidYouKnow #Somalia #Mogadishu #UgandaSomalia #EconomicDiplomacy #PublicDiplomacy #TradeAndInvestment
Under the nuclear umbrella, there are no idle pieces to move does pulling in Britain and France help stabilize the situationd In this game of diplomacy, the variables involved are far more than just the United States and Russia.
Le Pens tactic of 'cutting off supplies' is truly ruthless. If France takes the lead in withdrawing its investments, the EUs assistance framework for Ukraine will collapse, and the European security landscape will be drastically reshaped.
