Law Roach is right. Do not apologize to not a soul for the life you worked hard to build. People only see your rise, they either don’t know or ignore your struggle that brought you there. They may not know, but you do. Live and enjoy the life you built. Their hate is on them.

I love women who decided their life was going to be beautiful and then just went and made it that way.

I feel like journaling has healed parts of me that therapy couldn’t reach. I still value therapy, but I’m learning that the deepest inner work happens between you and yourself
Every week I put @breakfastclubam on to new artists. Here's who 👇🏾

Have you ever looked back at your life and realized, “God was protecting me the whole time”? 🥹

It’s sad that she ever had to hear that. Rapsody is beautiful, talented, intelligent & you can tell from her music & interviews she has a certain warmth to her, she seems to have great energy & an amazing spirit.
No female rapper should have to sale the fantasy of sex to sale albums. Her talent, her artistry, her intelligence & her presence should be enough without her being packaged as somebody's sexual fantasy just to gain commercial success.
There should be no such expectation or condition to be taken seriously. Rapsody’s greatest assets are her pen, her perspective, her storytelling, her voice & her ability to make people think.
I appreciate that she has consistently made room for lyricism, intellectual depth, vulnerability, Black womanhood & her personal truth.
Why should those qualities have to compete with somebody’s fantasy? Why should any female artist have to convince people that she's sexually desirable before they're encouraged to appreciate what she has to say?
How much does “packaging” matter for women in rap?
@rapsody says she doesn’t want people to feel like they have to ‘be her’ or sleep with her. She’s just the homegirl, somebody the next generation can lean on, the way Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah and MC Lyte inspired her.
Cutting all my hair off really taught me two things: 1. I was way too attached to other people’s perception of me. 2. Thank God I got my mama’s face. 😭

Someone said “if you never met a silly version of me, I’ve never met a safe version of you,” and I felt that

You’re healed when you’re no longer mad at the pain, people, or problems God used to process you.
