The ILL Bloom session comes to an end! We explored how randomness is generated, how weak random number generators work, and their impact on crypto wallet security. Kudos to @coinspect team for the research behind ILL Bloom & thanks to everyone who joined.

How much control do we really have over our digital identities? At OCCSSG, we explored Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) and how cryptography can shift identity ownership from centralised providers towards individuals.

But the model comes with challenges: Interoperability, key recovery, user experience and regulatory uncertainty. We also discussed how distributed ledgers can help anchor identifiers and public keys without storing personal identity data on-chain.

These were some of the key concepts explored during our technical discussion on Decentralised Identity and Self-Sovereign Identity at OCCSSG. A sincere thank you to @CFT_Tweets for supporting us & helping create a space for cryptography learning and technical discussions

How can two people establish a shared secret over a public channel without ever exchanging the secret itself? This is the problem Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange set out to solve. A fundamental breakthrough in modern cryptography.

Alice and Bob each choose a private number and exchange their public values. Using the received value and their own private number, both independently compute the same shared secret. An observer can see the exchange but cannot feasibly derive the secret from public info alone.

But Diffie-Hellman has a critical limitation: it does not authenticate the parties. Without authentication, an attacker can intercept the exchange and establish separate secrets with Alice and Bob through a Man-in-the-Middle attack. Key agreement alone does not establish trust.
