Freelance Pay:
As the new financial year kicks it it feels like a good time to bump the conversation about freelancer day rates.
If you are paying less than £150 per day, research suggests you’re paying less than the National living wage comparatively, overheads not included.
Some work by @BIGchats freelancers a few years ago calculated the following (very approximate) equivalencies:
£50,000 - £448 per day
£45,000 - £404 per day
£40,000 - £359 per day
£35,000 - £314 per day
£30,000 - £269 per day
£25,000 - £224 per day
£20,000 - £179 per day
Today I will Day OFF. ✨ If you are a freelancer, or work multiple jobs, or are simply just a human person.... Take a day off. This is the sign! 🤘

What strikes me as deeply unpleasant about the Nicola Sturgeon / Alex Salmond situation is that the possible consequence of a powerful man who Sturgeon says acted "deeply inappropriately" towards women could be the destruction of a woman's political career.

One of the most difficult life balances to strike:
Having enough self-confidence to carry on, however many times you’re knocked back
But enough self-doubt to listen to criticism and change course when necessary
I've been working on Of Source, putting pieces of my conversations with folks into action. Check out what it's all about and get in touch if you'd like to chat - ofsource.squarespace.com/
