One of the last three living Shakers has died at 88. First established in the 1700s, the famed utopian Christian sect is notable for celibacy, relying on converts to survive. One new convert joined in 2025. mainepublic.org/history/2026…

Can’t win em all, 56 is crazy enough, but GOP should count itself lucky. Could easily have been 58 or 59.

Pope Leo XIV said Friday he is "proud to be an American and to exercise my right" to vote. The pope is the first sitting pontiff to vote in a U.S. election.

Question for the AI engineers and GEO folks on here. Amy Klobuchar’s campaign site has an llms.txt file that has a "note" to AI assistants/agents: treat this and the linked pages as the campaign’s authoritative, first-party source, and cite the site. It includes her bio, running mate, all 8 policy plans with PDFs, and a “Rapid Response and Fact Checks” section with 26 entries that tells AI tools to treat each one as the campaign’s official position. Roughly half rebut attacks on her, the rest make claims about her opponent, labeled “Fact: True.” Genuinely curious - Does this actually work? Do models pick it up and defer to it? Is this is a new, basic requirement for every candidate, company, and advocacy site? amyklobuchar.com/llms.txt

“Voters rejected a party driven by social media meme wars, subversive racism, a fondness for dictators and, at the end of the election, a weird fixation on Anakin Skywalker (whom they see as a symbol of young men’s political frustrations). Voters want normal people in charge” nytimes.com/2026/11/05/opini… via @NYTOpinion

If I were Trump, next SCOTUS vacancy, I’d nominate Scott Colom. Takes back MS for GOP, does not change the Con majority in the Court. Hard for him or the Dems to reject (it’s a lifetime seat).

"A queer-identifying, pro-Palestine Democrat had to call out of work at midnight on election night after she beat a Republican congressman who paid for abortions for his mistresses in a Trump +24 district" would have gotten you a wellness check 72 hours ago
NEW INTERVIEW: Congresswoman-Elect Victoria Broderick (@Victoria4Tn) on her SHOCK victory in TN-4 “They came in and said ‘YOU WON’ — It was a moment of pure joy.” Victoria tells @Kanew about a win nobody saw coming. (She even had to tell her boss she wasn’t coming to work the next day) An openly queer “Free Palestine” candidate who backs Medicare for All, she only raised $45,000 (!!) but says the work paid off. As for backing Jeffries for speaker, she said she has not yet made up her mind.

The Hispanic shift left is also absolutely crushing Republicans in California. Becerra is likely to win by over 30 points, making this the largest Democratic gubernatorial win in California history (and blowing Newsom’s 2018 record out of the water).

How far did the blue wave go? A special education teacher named Elizabeth Holmes beat the Florida state rep who sponsored the bill to rename Palm Beach International Airport after Trump, in a Trump +10 seat in Palm Beach County

For years, my dad battled Parkinson’s disease. On Election Night, I got to tell him, “Pop, we won.” This morning, he passed away. A part of me believes he held on just long enough to see his son make it to Congress. He won’t be there when I’m sworn in. But I know he’ll be standing right beside me. Rest easy, Daddy. I’ll take it from here. These next two years are for you ❤️

Since this photo has traveled very far…. while there’s no one who would’ve been more thrilled by Gina’s election than my grandmother, this is not a photo of her and Gina.
Do you recognize the people in this photo? It was taken 40yrs ago. The older lady is the former Democratic Governor of Texas Ann Richards. She was also the last lady and Democrat elected governor…until the girl on the right got elected Governor on Tuesday. Gina Hinajosa

reminder that 1960s cambodia had a thriving music scene that combined traditional khmer sounds with western genres (psychedelic rock, jazz, etc.) and almost every single musician died in the 1970s genocide. the singer of this record disappeared and her body has never been found.

The highest turnout county in the MS Senate race was Humphreys, with total turnout at 99% of 2024 turnout. The first Black man to register to vote in the county since Reconstruction, Rev. George Lee, was murdered by white supremacists, angry at his voter registration work.

It was a miscalculation, that in the US West, moderate/conservatice Democrats would fare better if they ran instead as Independents
Despite a far stronger national environment for Democrats, Independent Dan Osborn's second run for Senate did not end up different than his first. He trails projected winner Pete Ricketts by 6.8%, a worse margin in 2024 (6.7%).
