📍 Jeddah, 29 September 2026 As the outgoing Chair of the 14th Session of the @oicstatcom, H.E. Mr. Mehmet ARABACI, President of @TurkStat, expressed appreciation for the trust and cooperation extended by OIC Member Countries during Türkiye's chairmanship, and reviewed the main achievements of the term. Throughout its chairmanship, Türkiye remained one of the leading contributors to the SESRIC Statistical Capacity Building (#StatCaB) Programme, sharing its expertise with the #NSOs of OIC Member Countries through training courses, study visits and technical assistance activities coordinated by SESRIC. SESRIC, in collaboration with the @UN Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) and the OECD, organised a Regional Workshop on "Measuring Natural Resources in the National Accounts" on 1–4 September 2026 in Chiba, Japan. The workshop strengthened the capacities of 17 officials from 11 Asia-Pacific countries, including 9 from 6 OIC countries, to compile natural resource accounts in physical and monetary terms, covering asset valuation and depletion measurement. H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Azer MURSAGULOV, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee (SSC) of Azerbaijan. @statestatkom The meeting highlighted the longstanding cooperation between SESRIC and the SSC of Azerbaijan. H.E. SELÇUK underlined that the experts from SSC Azerbaijan actively took part in 154 activities under StatCaB Programme. The two sides also discussed the possible contributions of the SSC to the OIC Statistical Commission (@oicstatcom ) and exchanged views on further enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest based on the existing MOU.

Inclusive data collection is crucial for building equitable social protection systems. As data sources and technologies continue to evolve, ethical considerations were a key focus at #OICStatCom13. 🤝 SESRIC and the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan (QAZSTAT) signed an #MoU at SESRIC HQs in Ankara, on the sidelines of the #OICStatCom13. The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in national statistical systems through knowledge exchange, capacity building, and joint initiatives.
