Yesterday, while visiting some sites, I needed to buy carpentry materials for roof leakage and plumbing materials, so I headed out around Oribanwa Ibeju Lekki. Luckily for me, I saw a spot. This woman sells building materials and tools. She had some of the carpentry materials but she didn’t have some. For everyone she didn’t have, she would say “ẹ wo woman to wa lọọkan lọun yẹn, ẹ lọ ra nibẹ”. (Look at that woman faraway, selling what I am selling, buy it from her). She mentioned this statement like 4 times. Took her time to come out and point me to the place. I even needed to buy flashband, the ones she had were not wide enough but will still work, she still told me to visit that woman and get the exact one I wanted. At a point, I jokingly asked “what did that woman do to you? Seems you like her more than yourself”. She said “she’s my friend, please patronize her for what I don’t have”. So, I went to the woman’s place, requested for the things needed and truly, she had everything. So, I asked her also “That woman over there selling what you sell, what did you do to her?” Immediately I landed, she furiously replied “kini mo ra nigba Obirin yi naa ti mio sanwo 😡? Bi o ṣe ma nṣe niyẹn, ko dẹ le ri temi bajẹ” (what exactly did I buy from this woman that I didn’t pay? She can’t kuku spoil my life). I allowed her speak her mind, then replied “she didn’t say anything bad about you. I was asking to know what you did to her to make her prioritize you so much. She’s the one who begged me to come patronize you”. She just replied “ohhhh”, then a moti fvck up kind of silence in utter shock. While driving back, the first woman still waved me shouting “hope you got all that you were looking for”. You don’t even know what you are in people’s life. END
