imo it is less about binance reimbursing their users but more about how it actually happened like what if the same thing happens to exchanges who can't afford to refund their users or we see a bigger domino effects of large scale hacks
the silver lining to all of this is that Binance will be fine
i do not believe there is a systemic risk here
Binance reportedly makes $16-$17 billion in annual revenue
almost half of the total amount involved in the incident has already been frozen or is potentially recoverable
total amount that may ultimately be unrecoverable = ~$3.2 billion
so about 2 - 2.5 months of revenue based on those estimates?
very manageable for a company of Binance's scale, especially considering its strong history of prioritizing users during periods of stress like this
@cz_binance and @heyibinance have also publicly stated that all user funds are safe and will be fully covered
in my opinion:
- odds of systemic risk? incredibly low!
- odds of a bank run? incredibly low!
- odds of panic selling and overblown media headlines? yes
this is simply THE event that puts in the final local lows before things get really exciting again
Binance and the industry will be fine
don't make any trading decisions out of panic
chill, touch some grass, make sure your opsec is good in the meantime — crypto is not going away!
good time to read this
first time since i have joined this space i have opened your beloved $BTC chart and my first question is what are you even worried about
everyone that is panicking like it's the end of the world hear me out just ZOOM OUT
all the ogs that are losing their shit come on you all have been here longer than most of us what are you even worried about keep the fundamentals aside even tho they are great show this chart to any age group of people outside of this space and they will be like pretty crazy returns and that too consistently
every cycle $BTC adds less returns from the previous cycle while also forming bottoms quicker which is pretty obvious the first official bear market of bitcoin it went down -80% from ATHs , the next one it went down 71% and the recent one we only saw a drawdown of -50%
why are you calling for lower is it so hard for you to see that every cycle the adoption of CRYPTO as a whole is increasing and expecting the same big downsides every bear market is a super retarded thing to expect
do you seriously believe bitcoin should fall the same amount of % in the bear market where TRUMP went pro crypto compared to the bear market when everything was ANTI ?
finally the whole concept of diminished returns is also cope yes bitcoin only went up 8x last cycle as compared to the cycle before that where it went up 30x but even according to that math $BTC going up 3x this cycle is it going to $250k
my 2 cents and if someone smarter than me ( everyone ) would like to contribute go ahead
