It tracks with the Quranic order to cast terror into the hearts of unbelievers (8:12, 3:151). When violence silences critics, free speech is already dead.
We are not ready for the country this produces. Not even close.
Muslims have made the killing of people who criticise Islam seem normal in Nigeria, and that is precisely the problem. The objective is to instil FEAR in everyone, so people become too terrified to question, criticise or speak out against their religion.
It is hard not to see the connection with the Quranic command to “cast terror into the hearts of the unbelievers.” When violence and intimidation are used to silence critics, the result is a society where people are afraid to speak freely.
When people are too afraid to speak, intimidation has already won. And that is exactly where the danger lies.
We are clearly not ready for the kind of country we are becoming. We are not ready at all.
If you want Sharia law, just say it.
There is no point pretending this is about democracy when you are voting for people who want the country replaced.
Just admit you are voting for Abdul El-Sayed because you hope to be ruled under it.
