A terrifying doorbell camera video shows 34 year old Sean Hubbard walking up to a home and firing a shotgun straight through the front door. Yet, he remained free to return under the cover of night. Four days after terrorizing the household over a minor dispute, Hubbard opened fire again, tragically killing 19 year old Camariya Tidwell, a recent high school graduate who wasn't even the intended target. The warning came first. The mother says Hubbard shot into the home days earlier, that the family filed a report, and that detectives didn't even reach out until Friday. Eight officers responded Saturday evening and searched until at least 10 p.m. The gunman returned and killed Tidwell less than an hour later. This tragedy highlights the devastating real world consequences of a soft on crime legal system that continuously allows repeat offenders with violent histories back onto our streets. When a filed police report buys a family nothing but bureaucratic delays, and detectives take days to respond to an active threat, the system has completely prioritized leniency over public safety. I am tired of seeing this all the time. Over and over I see these kinds of things where innocent people die hoping our justice system will do it's job.
