TacTrace is live at: tactrace.orbat-mapper.app/ Still very much a work in progress, so I'd love your feedback and bug reports. I mostly built it as a sandbox for myself before adding things to ORBAT Mapper. (2/2)

In the latest version of TacTrace, you can export your maps to ORBAT Mapper. Use it for your next FM 3-90 reenactment.

New example added to TacTrace: FM 3-90 Single envelopment (Figure 2-16) A variation of envelopment where a force attacks along one flank of an enemy force. It is generally easier to control and does not require a significant number of forces. Link below 👇

This could be a future video on @TastingHistory1
All this talk of bread and biscuits to feed Napoleon’s troops made me want to try them myself. Today I took recipes from 1805 to a local baker. It turned out she was also an archaeologist, so the conversation soon moved beyond baking to how we might recreate something soldiers actually ate. If the trials go well, I’ll set off from Vienna towards Austerlitz with my own pain de munition and military biscuits. Then comes the real test: eating them on the march. TacTrace now supports ORBATs. The UI is still a bit raw around the edges, so I’d love your feedback. What needs tweaking, and what features should come next?

I’m deep in testing some major new features for TacTrace, so I’ll be quieter here on X for a bit. Worth the wait, I promise

And just to be clear, glowing symbols is not the major new feature ( but you'll get that too)

Glow-in-the-dark unit symbols. Yea or nay?

In response to popular demand, all of the mapmaking tools on my site have been updated with unit selectors for miles, kilometers and nautical miles. thinkinginspace.net/tools.ht…

So I made this thing where I try to predict the next possible EO satellite capture. It should automatically update every day, but I can’t guarantee that it works. Please let me know if I got any constellations wrong. spatialillusions.com/eyes-up…

For comparison, this is the current behavior if you enable halos

Downside is increased initial rendering time and memory consumption, so I'll probably make this optional. Based on a recommendation from @spatialillusion a long time ago.

I'm testing out a new "Size units by echelon" mode in ORBAT Mapper. You'll find it by clicking on the lab icon in the toolbar.

Try it out at orbat-mapper.app/scenario/de… I'll make this a core feature but I want some feedback from users first. Currently it does not do any changes to your scenario.
