Pope Gregory IX is quoting earlier popes in his promulgation of the canon law.
Let’s start with betrothals:
He explicitly states that betrothals are valid at 7 years old.
In chapter 6 he says that if a man betrothed a girl above 7 then went and married her mother instead 😌, his marriage to the mother is invalid, but if the girl was younger than 7, the marriage to the mother is valid.

Jake is really making a good argument against the stupid “Islamic dilemma” accusation.. but they really need to focus.
If Quran tells the Jews “Follow Torah and Quran” in (5:68),
and that God’s laws were actually revealed in that same Torah (5:44)
and same Quran telling them God gave different people different laws in (5:48),
and telling them that Quran is abrogating some of these laws God gave them (for example 7:157 abrogating 4:160)
SO when Quran tells them “follow your torah and its laws” and “follow Quran’s laws which abrogate the torah’s laws”,
IT SHOWS THAT:
“follow your torah” DOESN’T REALLY MEAN “follow EVERYTHING in your torah”,
on the contrary .. it’s evident that Quran tells them NOT TO follow everything.
THEREFORE, when Quran says it “confirms their scriptures”, it DOESN’T REALLY HAVE TO MEAN “it confirms EVERYTHING in that torah” AT ALL.
Then what they are left with is just speculation and bad faith argument that they can’t prove.

One of our brothers in Germany has a Christian mother who has strongly refused to convert to Islam, even though she married his Muslim father more than fifty years ago.
Our friend’s mother lives with him in the same house.
Although he is a devout Muslim who has memorized the Holy Quran and performs all his prayers at the mosque, he and his wife make every effort to care for his mother in the best possible way.
A few months ago, his mother became seriously ill and was hospitalized for some time.
Every day, he would spend hours by her bedside, pleading with her to embrace Islam.
One of his friends even witnessed him kissing his mother’s feet, begging her to convert to Islam.
And glory be to Allah, his maternal aunt embraced Islam after witnessing how devoted her nephew was to his mother.
As for our friend’s mother, she remained firm in her refusal—until ten days ago, when her illness became severe.
While she was in intensive care, she asked to see her son.
He entered her room, and she took his hand and asked him:
“How do I become a Muslim?”
Our friend, his wife, and his children burst into tears in a deeply emotional scene that shook the entire hospital.
After his mother declared her acceptance of Islam, he washed her, applied perfume to her, and taught her how to pray while she was still lying in her hospital bed.
He would perform the prayers, and she would follow his movements from her bed.
She then passed away—may Allah have mercy on her—having performed only four obligatory prayers after he had guided her through the Shahada.
May Allah grant her paradise and her son.
