I'm glad to see that the NPC's insistence over months that all DSA-affiliated candidates must support BDS towards Palestinian liberation has moved one of the most notoriously recalcitrant chapter endorsees in the country to finally support BDS. Big win for electoral red lines
Nithya Raman has been criticized by DSA members for not supporting BDS. She now says "I believe the best way for working Angelenos to stand in solidarity with Gaza is through non-violent protest, legislative action, and diplomatic pressure, including BDS."

Rest in peace Eugene Debs, gone 100 years today. Check out these three timely pieces from him:
For the 100th anniversary of his death, Steven Raney (@overallsthinker) introduces three pieces by Eugene V. Debs on the topics of militarism and internationalism. cosmonautmag.com/2026/10/eug…

Meese? GUG? Read more to find out:
The 2028 Presidential Election will be a flashpoint for American politics. But without a strong anti-Constitutional program, the forces for democracy will be unable to overcome the structural disenfranchisement embodied in the state. Steven R. argues that, for the work in 2028 and onwards to succeed, socialists must emphasize constitutional politics, disloyalty to the Constitution, and opposition to ICE. Check this out if you didn't know there was almost a revolution in Britain in 1832 or that Senate GOP leadership relies on 60 million magic votes conjured out of thin air to stay in power 👇
On The Democratic Constitution Blog, @overallsthinker argues that, like nineteenth-century Britain, the United States is plagued by political malapportionment & unequal rights, & that the struggle for democracy is the way forward ⤵️ democraticconstitutionblog.s…

. @TheAtlantic when you run op-eds quoting my writing please make sure your editors give due credit to @MarxistUnityDSA where we do indeed keep the abolitionist tradition you were founded on and abandoned decades ago alive, as this passage alludes to in scare-quotes

I don't even disagree that Sawant's result in WA9 was noteworthy, but this is such a ridiculous claim. There have been openly Marxist candidates who were actually elected and served in Congress!

Hard to find complete records but the Socialist Party of America matched or beat Sawant's performance in House races at least 63 times between 1910 and 1919 while running candidates on a Marxist program and outright won five of those (2x London 3x Berger)

Skeletons in the closet, ghouls vacating their seats, zombies casting proxy votes, the specter of democracy haunting Fox News—what a frightening month for the US Senate! Read my latest on the Democratic Constitution Blog: democraticconstitutionblog.s…

New in Light & Air! The working class can remake itself as a historical actor around the struggle for democracy, a society in which we are free to rule ourselves as equals. We need to finish Reconstruction and a Democratic Socialist Republic.

Nothing is "enough on its own" to protect people's rights. Freedom is a constant struggle. But it's not possible to fight that struggle on a level playing field without true democracy, and history shows us minoritarian institutions like the courts have been a net obstacle to it.
Replying to @trash_panda97
yeah no I am questioning mug on whether they would like to abolish judicial review immediately on the basis that a truly democratic process is enough on its own to protect people’s rights

There was a period of about 30 years after the dawn of the age of industrial unionism where the Court gave us rulings like Brown v. Board. There's also a record of 200+ years where it's mainly given us rulings like Dred Scott, Plessy, Citizens United, and Dobbs.

The ruling class is shrieking in defense of the Senate, the Voting Rights Act is finished, and ICE and police continue to kill with impunity. It's a good time to talk about the working class and the battle for democracy. Check out my latest in Light & Air: marxistunity.com/the-battle-…
