ok so, REGARDING THE CHANGES TO TWITTER:
i've decided i probably will be moving to bluesky full time. i've decided to stop crossposting here and private my account.
it's been wonderful and a privilege having such a large audience and it breaks my heart to have to sever it -
posting here again only once out of desperation, please consider helping these two people who are very important to friends of mine.
after multiple disasters and housing crises, they need help. even a few dollars! they're relatively close to their goal.

this thread assumes sweatshops are the only problem, and doesn't really address the issue of economic imperialism - why we think it's okay to pay someone less for the same work because they live somewhere else, and the same logic that justifies outsourcing on a corporate scale.
