I’ve been receiving a lot of DMs about these topics, so I’ve put together a summary to address the most frequently asked questions. 1. Why I Post Melon Charts The Melon chart is one of the key indicators used to assess music performance in South Korea, which is why I use it to share updates on NMIXX’s chart performance. 2. Regarding the Freezing Chart The main reason for the significant drops in rankings during the early morning hours is the difference in chart calculation methods. 08:00–24:00: 50% based on 24-hour usage + 50% based on hourly usage 01:00–07:00: 100% based on 24-hour usage In other words, from 08:00 to 24:00, the most recent hour of streaming activity contributes to the rankings. During freezing hours, however, rankings are determined entirely by cumulative usage over the past 24 hours. As a result, ranking fluctuations can vary significantly depending on the time of day. 3. NMIXX’s Rankings and Streaming General listeners tend to listen to music most frequently during their commutes to and from work or school. After 20:00, general listening activity tends to decline, making fandom streaming efforts relatively more influential on chart rankings. Additionally, we have been conducting coordinated streaming efforts at 23:00, which has made it possible for NMIXX to enter the TOP 10 during that time slot. Of course, temporarily boosting rankings through coordinated streaming is meaningful in its own way. However, rather than focusing solely on short-term ranking increases, it is more important to monitor the trends in both the freezing chart and the daily chart. We need to look beyond temporary rises and consider actual listening activity and overall chart trends. 4. My Thoughts on NMIXX’s Current Chart Performance To be completely honest, the current level of streaming from general listeners is somewhat limited. However, music show promotions have not yet begun, and NMIXX has not received extensive promotional exposure. Therefore, I believe it is too early to draw conclusions about their overall performance based on the current results alone. In today’s South Korean music market, public attention and buzz play a significant role in chart performance, alongside the quality of the music itself. Even when an artist releases great music, the results can vary depending on how much public attention it receives, along with various other external factors. NMIXX has worked hard for a long time to prepare and deliver great music. For that reason, I believe it is important for us to continue supporting them steadily rather than becoming overly concerned about every change in their rankings. Instead of feeling pressured by the rankings we see right now, we should focus on what we can do and keep doing it consistently. Let’s trust NMIXX, who have worked hard to bring us this music, and continue supporting them to the best of our abilities. Ultimately, what we can do is help more people discover NMIXX’s music, keep listening, and continue supporting them together. Thank you to everyone who continues to put in the effort and support NMIXX in your own way.
