I took this picture with Bill in the airport. He told me to call him Bill when I called him Mr. Walton. He set his bag down and suggested we take a picture. When they called for his boarding group, he walked to the gate and boarded. I was still with his bags. RIP Bill.

October 13, 2013. Ten years ago. Another insane comeback in an era that seemed to be defined by insane Red Sox comebacks. Once again, David Ortiz threw us all on his shoulders and somehow made the unbelievable seem oddly believable. Clutch defined.

People my age complain about school not preparing them for the real world. I agree…to an extent. While it’s probably helpful to know how things like insurance and taxes work, I’m confident I could run the table on a category about mid-century European explorers on Jeopardy!
