1. PSEUDOGOBLET CELLS. Continuous and linear pattern and lack the strong blue staining of acid mucin when stained with alcian blue.
2. TRUE GLOBET CELLS. Singly dispersed, pale gray on H&E, and due to acid mucin they turn intense blue with alcian blue stain.

8/9 Hyalohyphomycetes are a diverse group with similar tissue forms, but treatments vary tremendously. Namely, Scedosporium apiospermum does not respond to Amphotericin B, but Aspergillus does. So, by stating that it’s Aspergillus, one may have misdirected the treatment.
9/9 Pathologists and clinicians must be cautious of the limitations and pitfalls of morphological diagnosis and be mindful of the tests needed to make organism-specific diagnoses.
