I'd argue a 24 team playoff creates more meaningful regular season games, not fewer. Under a smaller format a 3 loss team is effectively eliminated by November. Instead of 10-15 teams fighting for a playoff spot, you'll have 30-40 programs still in contention.

Here's Arch Manning vs. "Joe Smith" Joke all you want, Sarkisian has a valid point. There is no name in college football that carries as much scrutiny as the Manning name, especially at the quarterback position.
