Today I issued an Executive Order designating “Seminole Wind” by John Anderson as the official anthem of Florida. I have also directed the @FLSecofState to erect historic markers in the City of Apopka depicting John Anderson’s contribution to Florida’s heritage. In addition, I have tasked @FLDEPNews to work with the @SJRWMD to designate wildlife drive and trail system within Lake Apopka North Shore as the John Anderson Wildlife Drive and Trail System.

Alabama's legislative prison oversight committee meets just four times a year and cancelled the last meeting of the year this week due to "scheduling conflicts." The state will go to trial with the DOJ next month over persistent unaddressed horrific prison conditions. The state's position is the harms aren't systemic, despite maintaining the highest prison death toll of any state system in the most incarcerated country in the history of humanity.

Evening Prayer: Loving God, we give thanks for friendships that bring out the best in us and and believe in the best about us. We give thanks for friendships that offer us refuge and safety and don't demand perfection and performance. Help us to be a friend who encourages. Amen. – at Trinity, NC

Peter Lynch's criteria—like low P/E ratios and strong EPS growth—offer a classic framework for finding undervalued stocks. You and @yor38404068 are my go-to sources for financial information.

Today is the feast day of St Alfred the Great, whose influence on Southern culture is inescapable. Check out Walt Garlington's excellent essay on how Christendom's King Alfred embodies some of the major aspects of Dixie's culture & history. ⬇️

Join with us in prayer. 🙏 Today's prayer is available in plain text and audio formats at cofe.io/TodaysPrayer.
Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: help us so to hear them, to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest them that, through patience, and the comfort of your holy word, we may embrace and for ever hold fast the hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

He’s not remembered nearly enough. Carried Atlanta on his back for years. Lillian Carter’s favorite wrestler, and example for high knee lifts at recess for a generation of middle schoolers.

Jesus reminds us that suffering is not a punishment for sin, but life is fragile and calls us to conversion. Like the patient gardener, God gives us time to bear fruit. His mercy is endless, but we must not waste the opportunities to change our hearts.
