The tech sees it and sends a note in our system to our office. They quote it and schedule it.

Winters are still about 90% as busy as summers for us but yes it would be nice to keep chugging all winter long

A bunch of reasons to add Crawlspace encapsulations (and attic insulation)! - higher tickets - we’ve maxed our ad spend in some markets. There aren’t enough LSA leads for us to spend more on pest control - will increase customer LTV - gives us a bigger service line to cross sell. Whether a customer signs up for pest control or the Crawlspace, we can cross sell them the other product when they trust us - a lot of these will have a $0 CAC which means we either have great margins or we can cut the price to win more jobs - this IS pest control. Putting a physical barrier and reducing moisture in the crawler leads to less pests in the home - this is as natural of an addition as adding mosquito, termite treatments, or wildlife to our service line

Why diversify? Why not just more pest control?

Some days I consider this. I think I just don’t truly believe in being happy so we just keep pushing growth

Make sense. I know a lot of pest companies that do daily in house meetings before they leave for the day and I never could make sense of it. We are going to do a weekly get together and I think we will lose out on some efficiency but hopefully we smooth out some other kinks that mostly make up for it. If nothing else maybe it will save me a headache or two

For now yes. One of our techs used to own an encapsulation business so he’s the lead.

Oh man I respect everything you do but I just don’t know. Our techs take the truck home every night. Kind of defeats the purpose of they all have to drive to the office every morning. We’re gonna start weekly stand ups and see what happens. At a weekly cadence we lose $100k in revenue. With daily meetings we’re gonna be out half a million dollars. I find it hard to justify. Especially with ~ 1/3 of our techs living 45 - 90 minutes from our office.

My biggest question has always been, are the weekly meetings effective and worth it? If a meeting takes 30 minutes from a tech that bills $150 an hour and I have 15 techs, that’s $1,125 a week or ~$60k a year we’re losing in revenue. We can make a lot of mistakes and have a lot of inefficiencies and still not burn the $60k. And these are my conservative numbers. I think with techs lingering after the meeting and drive time we’re gonna be out closer to $100k.

We’ve got a guy on our crew that used to do this type of work. Kinda want to have him start and manage the Crawlspace division and tell him we need it to do a million in revenue next year and see what happens lol

I was gonna set the goal at 2 a week. Roughly $500k in revenue

Depends on the Crawlspace. Some of them are rather roomy

We had our first Crawlspace encapsulation bid accepted yesterday. $6700 We’ve got over 5000 recurring customers and more than 15,000 people in our database to market to. I’m thinking we should set a goal for the crawlspace division. Just not sure what target to set for ourselves.

Dave, Thomas is the commercial GOAT. Texts me every week he landed an $80k bed bug job or 6 figure bird job. I mostly wait for them to call me but Thomas sees better results lol

I probably let outside factors affect me too much but I’m so much happier now than I was when I lived in Salt Lake City. No hate to anyone in the area, it just wasn’t for me. I’m a country boy not a city kid. Back then, I would struggle to pull myself out of bed to get to my home office by 9 am. Now, I can wake up everyday and be in the office or at the gym by 6 with problems. Where you live, who you surround yourself with, what you’re actively engaged in can all have huge impacts on your life. Life is short. If you aren’t happy, I’d recommend you make some radical changes. If you still aren’t happy then it’s probably a bigger underlying core issue you should look into.
