Awesome work hooking up WebMCP w/ Leo by Jay at @brave.
WebMCP allows websites to expose functionality to users, often even new functionality not possible to users browsing the web normally.
I added a few webMCP functions to my website to demo it.
We have some work to do on permission usability, but it's very cool to see it working.
Note: You need to start Brave Nightly with --enable-blink-features=WebMCP (or brave://flags/#enable-webmcp-testing) to see it working for now

Sharing in Brave Leo just dropped in Brave Nightly and will make its way to Release channel soon (v1.95.84 or later).
When you share, only the ciphertext is stored for 7 days on the remote server. Brave has no ability to decrypt it. You can revoke a share at any time.
The coolest part is that you share the decryption key as part of the URL (or you can separate it out too via the URL fragment)
URL fragments aren't sent in HTTP requests, so the server sees ciphertext + an opaque id and nothing else.
You can load the shares in any browser.
Credit to Jeremy and @petemill @brave on the implementation.
There's a job open for a full-stack but front-end and UI-focused developer position at Brave. Always remote and international-friendly. Really really good opportunity to work on browser client features, and with me 😄 brave.com/careers/?gh_jid=29…
This first version was fun to work on, and congratulations also to @cezaraugusto - there's still a fair amount of the initial prototype code in the final release.
Brave Today, our new privacy-preserving news reader, is now available on desktop (v1.18) and iOS. Simply scroll down to fetch the feed on a new tab page and discover links to content published by major media outlets in 15 different categories. brave.com/announcing-brave-t…

1. Design systems should enable an expressive variety of a visual identity, with guardrails and tools to do that well.
2. (I don't mean to cast stones) Is expressing of different focus states, button hierarchy, or modal curtain texture the place you add the most value?
I just tipped @OnePerfectShot using the Brave Browser brave.com/tips. #TipWithBrave nitter.gq/OnePerfectShot/status/…

If you were going to introduce someone to Star Trek, knowing they had limited time to commit to watching TV and you needed them to get hooked, on what series/season would you start them?

Having fun debating different clustering of CSS properties. How do you do it? Alphabetical? Clustered by type (box model, positioning, typography, etc)? Train wreck?

.@Ocasio2018’s #GreenNewDeal has redefined what’s politically possible.
Two years ago, Obama wouldn’t even try for a carbon tax. Now, the #2 Senate Republican is advocating for it as an alternative to the GND.
Bold progressivism shifts the goalposts. Democrats, take notes.

A huge part of building robust software systems is just asking “what happens if it breaks here” over and over.

I've been running @sbjavascript for over 4 years now. It's a modestly successful little community, and I'm super grateful to my coorganizer @garvan_k. It's hard work, and even harder to get help. Please give back to your local meetup, get involved, they don't run themselves. – at Goleta, CA

An update.
On Wednesday 12th Sep we received a Cease and Desist from CBS requiring us to cease development.
We'll be making a longer statement on Discord shortly. We hope you enjoyed Stage 9 while it lasted!
