Even in a festival allegedly about the long life of the husband, the woman is the main character. Dress up, mehendi, photo-op, fasting, breaking of fast with the moon, all center the wife. She is the active agent, the husband is passive. True for every single Hindu festival now.

teej/karwa chauth logic is quite simple anything you do will be for yourself and not for the other person unless you do kamana in the name of them.
