#OnThisDay in 1902, Reginald Skelton of Robert Falcon Scott's Discovery Expedition observed adult emperor penguins with well-developed chicks on the sea ice at Cape Crozier.
It was the first emperor penguin breeding colony ever recorded by humans and one of the most significant discoveries in Antarctic wildlife history, revealing that emperor penguins breed during the harsh Antarctic winter.

The perfect collection doesn't have to begin with hundreds of stamps. One of the joys of collecting is watching a story unfold issue by issue.
With the island's first official stamps released only last year, Sark offers collectors the opportunity to build an affordable, complete collection from almost the very beginning, following the island's history, people and places, as each new issue is released.
Have you started your Sark collection yet? We'd love to hear which issue has been your favourite so far.
