The time has come... Maelstrom is now open source. Let AI arrange your React components and run the actions you expose through conversation. Our first stable release, 0.1.0, is live on npm.

I am looking for my next career opportunity! I'm Corbin Crutchley; an engineering leader, consultant, author, and open-source maintainer. Previously as a VP of Eng, I've sped up engineering efforts for companies. My teams rework large-scale systems while building new features at the same time. You may also know of my OSS projects (@tan_stack & others) or my books (@playful_program). Roles I'm looking for: - CTO / VP of Engineering for small/medium companies - Staff+ Engineering roles, esp developer tooling - Consulting gigs Likewise, if your project is particularly challenging and / or complex, let's talk. Know of a good role for me? Book some time on my website or reach out in direct messages: corbincrutchley.com

Our official post mortem on the security issue earlier today: tanstack.com/blog/npm-supply…
SECURITY ADVISORY — TanStack npm packages A supply-chain compromise affecting 42 @tanstack/* packages (84 versions total) was published to npm earlier today at approximately 19:20 and 19:26 UTC. Two malicious versions per package. Status: ACTIVE — packages are deprecated, npm security engaged, publish path being shut down. Severity: HIGH — payload exfiltrates AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, and Vault credentials, GitHub tokens, .npmrc contents, and SSH keys. If you installed any @tanstack/* package between 19:20 and 19:30 UTC today, treat the host as potentially compromised: • Rotate cloud, GitHub, and SSH credentials immediately • Audit cloud audit logs for the last several hours • Pin to a prior known-good version and reinstall from a clean lockfile Detection — the malicious manifest contains: "optionalDependencies": { "@tanstack/setup": "github:tanstack/router#79ac49ee..." } Any version with this entry is compromised. The payload is delivered via a git-resolved optionalDependency whose prepare script runs router_init.js (~2.3 MB, smuggled into each tarball at the package root). Unpublish is blocked by npm policy for most affected packages due to existing third-party dependents. All 84 versions are being deprecated with a SECURITY warning, and npm security has been engaged to pull tarballs at the registry level. Full technical breakdown, complete package and version list, and rolling status updates: github.com/TanStack/router/i… Credit to the security researcher for responsible disclosure.

One of our core TanStack Start/Router team, @ChaponFlo, is looking for his next full-time remote position. Easily top 1% talent, highly skilled in perf, dev-facing tools, TS, full-stack, etc (including TanStack, obviously 😉) If hiring, DM him. If not, spread the word.

Accidentally added a Git contributor on @Netlify ? Congrats, they’re now part of your bill forever. No remove option. Seriously shady. #Netlify #DarkPattern #DevTax #PayForever #WebDev

🚨 Big news! We’ve been collaborating with the legendary @tannerlinsley and the TanStack team to build something new: TanStack DB — a reactive, normalized, transactional state engine that extends TanStack Query.

For the past five weeks I've been basically working full time on create-tsrouter-app for @tan_stack. * Complete re-factor of how apps are built * Supports adding add-ons to an existing application * Supports custom add-ons so that any library author can create add-ons (a la @shadcn blocks) * Supports custom 'starter templates' that you can build to customize your starting point to your taste * Has support for a registry of both custom add-ons and starters (ideal for enterprise infra teams) * Has a web UI for both application creation and adding add-ons There is still a lot more to do. But I figured today was a good day to drop the first release and to get back to `main`. I'll be dropping a video on a lot of this sometime next week. TBH though, looking forward to doing something else for a couple of days. This was a lot of work for a single dev. Big thanks to the TanStack team for technical support along the way.

One of TanStack's greatest maintainers, @seancassiere, is looking for his next big engineering role. Let's find it for him! A true 💯 with autonomy, architecture, throughput, teamwork, etc. He always delivers. DM him for offers! Use TanStack? You use his code. Repost this.

I'm gonna skip the conversation about Deepseek and Jevon's Paradox and instead teach you how to use Deepseek with @tan_stack Start, @reactjs and @ollama in under 10 minutes. How 'bout them apples? youtu.be/iEg7MyXSrU0

Be cautious when using array destructuring in performance-critical code. Repeated shallow copies can add up fast!

Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it 🙇‍♂️ It’s great to be part of @tan_stack community!
I'm sponsoring these MVPs because they put the "Stack" in @Tan_Stack: 🔁 @TkDodo 🗂️ @KevinVanCott 📝 @crutchcorn 🌎 @seancassiere 🌎 @schanuelmiller 🔒 @c_horobin 🥽 @piecu I suggest you do the same! Without them, we'd all be using useEffect, creating nested loops of doom, making links that take users nowhere and otherwise breaking the DOM on the daily.

By the end of 2024, you’ll likely never need these APIs again: • useMemo, useCallback, memo → React Compiler • forwardRef → ref is a prop • React.lazy → RSC, promise-as-child • useContext → use(Context) • throw promise → use(promise) • <Context.Provider> → <Context>
