@UCBSafeTREC I hope you can help us get the word out on this celebration in your backyard of the (street livability) barriers and my Dad's work in what we hope will be the first of many Annual Street Livability Days!! Join us one and all! @sdpublicaffairs @SDSU @PSFA_SDSU
When mainstream media covers @NASEMTRB issues, it’s good to point to solid research by @dshurwitz @OregonState @itehq @apbp @nacto Allowing bicyclists to roll through stop signs doesn’t reduce safety, researchers say @oregonlive oregonlive.com/education/202…
Teaching my kid to drive in @trimet Park & Ride parking lot and it has become increasingly clear that it’s unfortunate we built for only the commute peak hours. With trains stopping for no one on the platform, it does not make for competitive transit speeds or attractive service
Portland’s newest 🚦looks like a little like what I saw in Cambridge MA last month @NACTO
Commentary from Summer HS journalism program on car infrastructure “I just want some trains” @oregonlive @OPB @OregonState @ oregonlive.com/opinion/2024/…
Saw 60 years of 🚦history today, thanks to @PhiladelphiaGov staff! Amazing to see the progression to @SWARCO_McCain @Miovision technology #ITEPHILLY2024 @ITEhq
After-Party at @ITEhq #ITEPhilly2024 including a session on the #MUTCD Great to have @TogetherRyan Executive Director @NACTO talking about @ncutcd & the improvements being made by @USDOTFHWA
Impressed with the “live” tweeting of @BikeLeague @Kenmcld who has been sharing lessons learned at @ITEhq Annual Meeting #ITEPhilly2024 So important to link advocacy to bicycle facility design @apbp

Next presenter is Dewan Ahammed, a graduate student who researched two-stage turn boxes for bicyclists making left turns
In my experience two-stage turning can be really helpful at intersections where I don't feel comfortable waiting for a standard left turn opportunity

Their different approach includes distinctive art and signs for crosswalks
These signs are not #MUTCD approved, but they have been popular with the community and have improved driver yielding rates

Final day of #ITEPhilly2024
When Springfield Missouri looked at its pedestrian safety issues they found that 50% of crashes were in crosswalks where the person walking had the right of way
Spurred a different approach to increasing driver yield rates
Fortunate to spend time with @NACTO colleagues on a morning bike tour, thanks to @ITEhq #ITEPhilly2024 for bringing us together

Full panel includes Veronica McBeth of @USDOT , Freddie Fuller of @JacobsConnects , Frank Franklin of @PhiladelphiaGov , and @VeronicaODavis of @atkinsrealis
After each sharing 3 words about themselves they gave their origin stories of why they got involved in transportation
At #ITEPhilly2024 @VeronicaODavis of @atkinsrealis encourages @ITEhq members to be curious about the history of place as a part of transportation Thanks to Cipriana Patterson of @tooledesign for guiding us through the conversation
The art of the City includes some wonderful traffic control devices
