Here's what the text says.
On the living deer, Aranya Kanda 3.43.16:
अन्तःपुरविभूषार्थो मृग एष भविष्यति
antaḥpura-vibhūṣārtho mṛga eṣa bhaviṣyati
"This deer will be an ornament of the inner palace." Not “harem.” Sita is talking about after the exile, when they're back in Ayodhya. The word is vibhūṣā, ornament. It's a marvel to bring home to Bharata and the queen mothers. It isn't a "pet," and it isn't a harem plaything. We also know that Rama never took another wife, let alone kept a harem.
On the slain deer, 3.43.19:
शष्पबृस्यां विनीतायामिच्छाम्यहमुपासितुम्
śaṣpa-bṛsyāṃ vinītāyām icchāmy aham upāsitum
"I wish to sit on its golden skin, spread over a seat of tender grass." A bṛsī is an ascetic's grass seat. She's a forest-dweller in exile, picturing herself sitting beside Rama. That isn't upholstery or a "furniture cover." Rama even pictures the same scene himself a few verses later (3.43.34).
So "harem pet" and "furniture cover" aren't translations. Each one picks the most lurid or trivial reading available so that Sita comes off as decadent and vain. The text doesn't support either.
We've seen this before. In 2018 Truschke "loosely translated" Sita at the agnipariksha as calling Rama a "misogynist pig." Robert Goldman, the translator she cited, disowned it.
She starts from a Sanskrit word, takes the most loaded English you can find, and presents it as scholarship. That's academic malpractice.
And it’s a pattern.

Yet our expenses are largely similar. Travel, coaches, physios, trainers and support teams. I’ve had long conversations with Rohan Bopanna about this very disparity.
I agree that established athletes should strive to be financially independent. I’ve been fortunate to have wonderful sponsors, but not everyone has that privilege. That’s also why organisations like @OGQ_India are so important.
More importantly, if you read Mihir’s article in full, you’ll see that younger players had to compete without coaches, while several withdrew from tournaments.
I can find ways to fund my tour. But what about the 18-year-old chasing her dreams, hoping to become the next Sindhu or Lakshya?
And I must acknowledge the tremendous support the Government of India and @Media_SAI have extended to athletes like us over the years. Their contribution to Indian sport cannot be understated.
Accountability is absolutely necessary. But supporting athletes isn’t bleeding the system. It’s investing in India’s sporting future. And we shouldn’t lose sight of that.
How long will our elite athletes, who are professionals, bleed the system.
I mean, can not a PV Sindhu or Lakshya Sen fund own tours.

The Joseph Vijay @TVKVijayHQ led TVK @TVKPartyHQ government has crossed every limit of constitutional propriety by announcing that it will issue land pattas to thousands of mosques, churches and dargahs that have no ownership documents. This is not welfare. This is nothing but an open and deliberate surrender of government and public land to illegal encroachers in the name of minority appeasement.
The Tamil Nadu Minorities Welfare Minister has himself admitted that these structures have functioned for 25–50 years without title. Instead of initiating eviction under the Tamil Nadu Land Encroachment Act, the government is preparing to gift them formal ownership. Duration of illegal occupation does not create a right. The Supreme Court and the Madras High Court have repeatedly ruled that unauthorised religious structures on public land—temple, mosque or church, must be removed. Article 25 does not protect encroachment. The Places of Worship Act does not legitimise post 1947 occupation of government land. Courts have ordered the demolition of such structures in Tamil Nadu itself. Yet this government is now rewarding the very illegality that courts have condemned.
This is selective communal policy. While temple lands are subjected to recovery drives and Hindu structures on public land face eviction notices, minority religious structures are being offered pattas. Public land belongs to the people of Tamil Nadu. No government has the authority to transfer it to any religious group as a political favour. By doing so, the TVK @TVKPartyHQ government is encouraging further encroachments, undermining the rule of law, and practising open discrimination.
Bharatiya Janata Party, @BJP4TamilNadu Tamil Nadu strongly condemns this decision as illegal, unconstitutional and anti-people. We demand the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the proposal. Any attempt to issue pattas to unauthorised structures must be stopped, and the law must be applied equally to every community. Public land will not be allowed to become a tool of vote-bank politics.
