Until the carriers fix these problems, you’re at risk of a SIM swap. But you can protect yourself right now. Take a few minutes to check all your online accounts. Make sure 2-factor authentication is enabled, and it’s a secure option such as an authenticator app, and not SMS.

Just ordered a couple 1TB thumb drives for $30 each. I still find myself awestruck by tech progress -- I desperately wanted a 10MB hard drive for my IIGS as a teen, but didn't have the $399. One million times cheaper per byte, one thousand times faster, and 100 times smaller now.

The distinction between schools and prisons becomes less defined each passing day.
New: Driven by fears of school shootings, public schools are now paying tech companies to monitor everything students write in school emails or type in shared documents. School officials say they respond “within minutes” to what students have written: theguardian.com/world/2019/o…

You can hide your email address when making accounts on websites with Sign in With Apple. Apple will create a randomized address to protect your privacy. Each app gets a unique address, and you can disable them when you’re tired of hearing from that app.

I can’t believe what I’m seeing! While running a facial recognition pilot, one man (understandably imho) covered himself up. The police forced him to show his face (& then fined him for disorderly conduct). This is dangerous & terrifying.
