Logan Jimenez, Zach Bruce, and Callum MacDonald among those training with the #Hibs first team at HTC this morning.
Jimenez (18) can play anywhere on the left or up top while MacDonald (17) is an attacker who can play on either flank.
Playing Grant Hanley as an emergency #Hibs striker wasn’t an issue in itself but the fact that Marink Reedijk had to resort to it is a concern.
It told us plenty about his attacking options – and spoke volumes about the club’s recent recruitment ⬇️

Joe Newell wasn’t supposed to start against Celtic but by the time he went off, he’d made a pretty compelling case for greater involvement in Marink Reedijk's midfield
And, perhaps more awkwardly, raised another question about #Hibs recruitment ⬇️

U19s main striker is a converted left-back, Logan Jimenez, and they’ve been using midfielders including Reiss Downie up top. Not an awful lot of striker options at that level. Both Jimenez and Downie have trained with the first team so Reedijk will have had a look at them.
Replying to @pmcpartlin
What’s the point in having state of the art training/ youth facility’s, league and cup winning youth teams to then have a discussion about playing grant fucking Hanley as a striking option, and you wonder why the youth of Scotland flee to England at the first chance.
Goes without saying but once the novelty of Hanley up front wears off it does lay bare the recruitment issues. Lowe injured, but when Bowie was sidelined you had Kuharevich coming in. Campbell would be a decent backup option but obviously he’s out on loan. Hanley ‘til er, Jan’ry?
Better from #Hibs today although avoidable mistakes and a lack of cutting edge up top still haunt them.
Grant Hanley as a makeshift striker one of the main talking points ⬇️

#Hibs head coach Marink Reedijk has brought on Grant Hanley as a sub, and stuck him up front.
First subs for #Hibs as Suto comes on for McGrath and Matondo comes on for Klidje. Looks like Reedijk going for a straight 442 for the last 20-odd minutes, with Matondo pushing up on the left to make a 433 in attack.
#Hibs could and perhaps should be 3-1 up by now – Mulligan and Klidje with great chances. And, almost predictably, Duran puts Celtic in front just before the interval.
Boyle's late withdrawal through sickness, with Newell replacing him, necessitated a slight rejig of the front four – Klidje has stayed left with Elding through the middle & Mulligan has gone wide right ahead of Passlack. McGrath as the 10. But it's fluid, of course...
Goal for #Hibs! A fast start at Easter Road as Joe Newell takes a quick free kick and plays in Owen Elding, who hits a fierce effort across Sam Johnstone and into the far corner. Hibs 1, Celtic 0 with just 2 mins on the clock.
First involvement in a competitive matchday squad for #Hibs academy midfielder Zach Bruce today.
Impressed in pre-season with the senior squad and has already been branded 'exceptional' by Stranraer boss Chris Atiken ⬇️
The 19yo is on a co-operation loan at Stair Park and has four assists in 14 appearances, and has been turning out for #Hibs in the KDM Evolution Trophy as well.

“It was a little bit frustrating – but now, it's perfect.”
Marko Ivezic on illness, facing Bayern Munich, Marink Reedijk’s style of play, and taking on Celtic ⬇️

Two #Hibs academy players have been named in the Scotland squad for the inaugural U15 World Cup.
Defenders Jack Bunney and Henry Verraed will travel to Azerbaijan with 12 other Scottish youth footballers later this month ⬇️

I had a look at #Hibs' performances against Dundee United and Falkirk. Improvements were there but bigger issues remain ⬇️
▪ Elding more effective centrally
▪ Crosses losing impact
▪ Passlack carrying the creative load
▪ Turnovers undermined control

#Hibs have changed managers, changed coaches, and changed the playing style.
Yet many of the same weaknesses keep surfacing.
Falkirk's win yesterday raised bigger questions about recruitment than it did about tactics.
