Alfa Romeo isn’t only known for stuffing the heir of the cursed 1.2 PureTech into their new SUV with questionable looks. As much as it hurts my French ego, we weren’t the first to dare put an F1 engine in an everyday car. In 1988, Alfa thought it would be more than interesting to drop the 3.5L Tipo 1035 V10 from their F1 program under a 164 body. 620 hp, revving to 13,300 rpm, for around 750 kg. Not gonna lie, I’m a bit jealous of the Italians on this one. But the prototype never got a taste of competition, since no other brand choked on that much audacity, and it stayed the only car in its category. Kisses to you, dear Alfa 164 ProCar.
