Good luck, Toronto. No matter what happens tonight, remember the solid majority of our fellow Torontonians are decent, altruistic, well-meaning people. Even if they vote for something that has cruel or dangerous consequences, it's usually for lack of complete or accurate info.
Think of the stereotypical "South Asian tiger-parent"ed trivia and spelling bee kid. That's literally me - exept grown up with 3 kids of my own.

Sigh. Well, I tried. (And, yes, I'm aware I'm really annoying. I always have been. I've gotten used to it and I've just decided to use it for good.)
I've got to say that the mockery of Bradford having that doubled-up name was really ill-informed, or... if any of the people participating did know the reasons behind it....really a bit gross.
The backstory behind that name is the most appealing thing about him.
Brad rols me that story back in 2017, and ever since (even when I was running with Matthew Kellaway against him & Michelle Aarts) I've been vocal about shifting that down. The "Brad Ford" & "Bradford" things aren't nasty, just dorky. It's mocking the double-up that's wrong.
My feeling of belonging and loyalty to my fellow Torontonians exceeds how I feel about any sub-country "community" I could be said to belong to (that I can think of right now).
My Toronto people - even those I disagree with on this & that - at heart, you're alright!
Toronto. A city of kind, decent people who refuse to be manipulated into fearing one another. #topoli
Curran Stikuts, who defeated incumbent Chris Moise, wants to expand Toronto's new development charge exemption from sixplex to up to ten homes, provided they include at least 4 family-sized. He also supports giving transit priority on surface streets. morehomesfaster.ca

again, this is insane framing and objectively wrong based on the math
in no universe is a 13 point margin considered tighter than expected, especially when coupled with the fact that chow got more votes than any other mayoral candidate in the city’s history
A tighter-than-expected re-election leaves the mayor facing questions about passive leadership, thin plans and an unclear second-term agenda. thestar.com/news/gta/olivia-…
Has any individual Canadian ever won more votes in an election than Toronto's @OliviaChow won last night?
So much for the idea that our system is vulnerable to voter fraud.
I was just turned away from voting in Toronto's municipal election even after presenting my voting reminder card with my name and address on it, my passport, and my Ontario health card -- unacceptable
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Voter information cards and passports are explicitly not acceptable ID for Toronto municipal elections, which require one piece showing name and qualifying address; health cards are accepted only in specific qualifying forms.

Many races of note tonight, but one I haven’t seen commented on yet is the major upset in the TDSB trustee race in Ward 4. Incumbent Weidong Pei, who was one of the few trustees supportive of provincial supervision of the board, has lost. #tdsb

Whoever saw the Vivek Ramaswamy thing, and still decided to try and run this backhanded smear campaign against Chan-McNally is both a colossal jerk and an imbecile.
Toronto doesn't share your prudery. Move to Arkansas or rural Pakistan or something.
