we're all here because of the incredible primitives ethereum gives us to play with, and few people have explored them as creatively or openly as @rhynotic
his work has genuinely changed how i think about what's possible on ethereum

I was incredibly bullish on @sportfun when it first came out, bought heavily into the market and bought heavily into their ICO. I thought it was an incredibly novel concept, but it became clear to me they botched their supply control/levers from early on. They are now trying to fix that by penalizing whales with heavy fees. That in my mind runs opposite to the point of crypto and the permission-less and decentralized parts that I love.
I exited months ago and I’m glad I did. It’s unfortunate to see them still continue to fumble what was a great concept.
If you own any APESTR you can now use one of the 21 apes permanently locked as your PFP.
Those are the rules.
gm gm here we go again.
This morning somebody abused a bug in ApeStr to swap 21 apes for 21 ApeStr-owned apes.
This was a known exploit (see the SQUIGSTR exploit from ~1 year ago) but incentive to run it was never there.
The bug lies in buyTargetNFT: it forces a strategy contract to send arbitrary calldata to any target. Afterwards it checks only three things: its BAYC balance rose by exactly 1, it owns expectedId, and "cost" equals its ETH balance drop.
This was patched in later NFTStrategy releases, but affects the original 6 (PunkSTR not affected).
The attacker bought 2 BAYC to use as bait. Using a helper contract, they prep the strategy contract by selling an ape to it for 5 wei and immediately buying it back for 6 wei. That primes the contract's ethToTwap with 6 wei.
They then call buyTargetNFT and pass the calldata to transfer an ape from ApeSTR to the helper using safeTransferFrom. This in turn hands execution over to the helper (remember, safeTransferFrom is NOT safe), which transfer TWO apes back to ApeSTR to satisfy the balance check (1 out, 2 in leaves ApeSTR at +1). It also calls processTokenTwap, which converts the 6 wei, setting the cost of one of the newly deposited apes to 7 wei (6 * 120%). The helper contract buys it back in the same tx.
example flow:
- Attacker has BAYC #1 and #2. ApeSTR has BAYC #3.
- Attacker "sells" BAYC #1 to ApeSTR for 6 wei and sends BAYC #2 to it for free, but steals BAYC #3 in the process.
- ApeSTR relists BAYC #1 for 7 wei, which the attacker buys.
- Attacker now has BAYC #1 and BAYC #3, and ApeSTR has BAYC #2 (but doesn't even know it).
The attacker ran this for all 21 BAYC in the ApeSTR contract, resulting in them being able to claim packs for all of those BAYC. Total net proceeds: $14k.
This previously affected SQUIGSTR because of their shared contract - any art blocks NFT sent in would satisfy the balance check, allowing the attacker to drain the contract of squiggles in exchange for basically valueless art blocks NFTs.
It was known to be possible on ApeSTR as well, so I guess it was just a matter of time before we saw it happen.
The unfortunate consequence is that now, ApeSTR has 21 apes that it is completely unaware of, so they cannot be bought from the contract. And 210 attacker-owned mudwater packs were dumped into bids.
The 60k Microsoft employees should all take the buyout and pool half of it per person to start their own company…Macrohard.
Company would start with like $10B in capital.
If you’re a Microsoft employee offered a voluntary buyout of 9 months paid, just remember this:
GTA VI and the Zelda remake come out in 2 weeks.

Dario Amodei: some tokens Claude produces are worth a few cents, others could be worth tens of millions of dollars.
His examples:
1. Telling someone to restart their Mac: the model has said it 10 million times, worth a dollar or less
2. Telling a pharma company to move an aromatic ring to the other end of a molecule: potentially tens of millions
3. Expect pay-for-results pricing, or labor-like pricing by the hour
4. It's a new industry, so many models will be tried
Today pricing is simpler: per the S-1, usage-based pricing was 80% of H1 2026 revenue and subscriptions 20%.

So I was just typing a post here and all of a sudden a hand appeared on the screen, pointed at/touched the text of what I was typing and then disappeared?
I think the Pump squad competition is great, but id like to see the rewards go to more than just the top 3 squads.
Let’s be honest, those top 3 squads are big time whale accounts. The chances of smaller accounts/groups making there is zero. The top 3 are pushing 6 figure PnL’s and mostly won’t be caught.
That said, below the top 5 it really opens up. Allocating $100-200k to next 23 positions, so top 25 get rewarded would be hugely impactful for some of those smaller traders/groups. I think a lot more groups would try hard to break into top 25 knowing they could get a potential payout vs just the top 3.
Food for thought @a1lon9 @sapijiju
Probably worth buying a bag of all of these to tail them trying to push for the squad competition
I think this $PUMP squad challenge is going to come down to which coin performs the best over the next 2 weeks:
1. $BATON: Batonarmy hold 14% worth $800K
2. $MASK: Underground holds 3.6% worth $1.25m and Dabal holds 3% worth $1.1m
3. $AI: Beachballs holds 3% worth $2m
4. $CATE: Catevengers hold 9% worth $4.1m and Dabal hold 2% worth $900K
5. $ZCAT: Beachballs holds 1.2% worth $600K
6. $STONK: Dabal holds 1.2% worth $1.2m and Ctrlthenarrative holds 3.3% worth $4.25m
In terms of squad AUM:
1. Dabal: $16m
2. Beachballs: $5.3m
3. Ctrlthenarrative: $4.5m
4. Catevengers: $4.5m
5. Underground: $4m
Big squad AUM can be a double edged sword. Big advantage if on-chain picks up but also significant losses if market stays weak.
Lmao
Nothing to see here 🚨🚨🚨
