My first #91-DIVOC project: a COVID-19 visualization inspired by @jburnmurdoch's charts of the growth of COVID-19. Interactive, log/linear scale, and direct source to the dataset to explore it yourself: 91-divoc.com/pages/covid-vis… #91-DIVOC-01
I've always found it really hard to explore historic weather data. With today as #EarthDay, we just launched a BEAUTIFUL, data-forward radial #visualization of historical temperature data: vis.cs.illinois.edu/weather/…
I'd love to hear what you think, and any ideas to make it better!
I have always heard "it used to snow earlier" or "snow never melted until May" -- but I could never find a way to view this data! Today, we released a new, data-forward exploration of the the snow depth and snowfall of every city over 10,000 in the US 🎉
vis.cs.illinois.edu/weather/…
You'll notice a red shading any time the raw data is missing making it easy to distinguish 0" of snow from missing data (which might also look at like 0").
In addition, up to five nearby stations are provided to give readers a view of different nearby stations to validate and cross-check the data.
I imagine there are very few times in my life I will get to say I'm a fellow -- an honor to be named a Faculty Fellow at the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning! 🧡💙
The deepest thanks to @CITLIllinois, @uofigrainger, and @IllinoisCS!
📢 Illinois CS professor @profwade_ equates this university’s educational content to amazing gardens. A motivation to remove walls built up around these gardens led him to a new position as a Faculty Fellow with @CITLIllinois

Newest 91-DIVOC update allows you to graph vaccines allocated and administered by each US state -- hopefully, for humanity, this is the beginning of the end of the need for 91-DIVOC. 🙏

New 91-DIVOC interactive visualization -- exploring the contribution of the world's COVID-19 cases by region/population. This is one of my favorite graphs I've made, you can really see the spread over the various regions and the current European surge:

My newest 91-DIVOC update adds both "Derivative Charts", showing the rate of change of new cases, and some new fun "Experimental Charts" with more case-lagged CFR rates to nerd out with the data a bit more. 📉📈
Ex: Here's the daily change in new cases: 91-divoc.com/pages/covid-vis…
Latest @bigten COVID-19 updated. Today's bit: three schools -- @Illinois_Alma, @OhioState, and @IndianaUniv -- all follow nearly the same curve of confirmed cases/day despite widely different testing strategies, policies, state-wide restrictions, and more. 91-divoc.com/pages/covid-19-…
My @bigten COVID-19 dataset is updated for today -- I've been watching @Illinois_Alma's data for the past week and, today, we've hit a sobering milestone: a week straight of increasing cases/day (on a weekly basis).

The latest data from all @bigten COVID-19 is updated! Big takeaway: @UWMadison finishes their two-week "lockdown" and sees nearly identical results as @Illinois_Alma had in our two week "lockdown" a few weeks ago.
Interactive visualization: waf.cs.illinois.edu/covid-19…
The latest data from @Illinois_Alma gives us data-forward picture of the "lockdown" success: the 7-day average number of new cases is down by more than 75% after the two-week "lockdown" from where it started. 🎉

I've been visualizing COVID testing/cases among
@bigten schools since the start of the semester. Some really interesting bits:
- @Illinois_Alma did 2.5% of all US testing on the first day of class; still doing 1%
- New: Analysis on B10 resuming football: waf.cs.illinois.edu/covid-an…
A lot of news about COVID-19 cases at university campuses -- very little about testing. My latest visualization graphs the COVID-19 tests, cases, and test positivity at every @bigten university in a data-forward, interactive visualization: waf.cs.illinois.edu/covid-19…
.@Illinois_Alma is leading testing by far -- 9x more tests than second-place @RutgersU -- while having only ~2.5x as many cases as @UMich.
A chart overlaying tests (solid line) and positive cases (dashed line) for all three schools mentioned: waf.cs.illinois.edu/covid-19…
