👉12 fully funded #PhD positions available @uniGoettingen and @mpi_nat within the #RTG2756 #CYTAC @dfg_public. Visit the website for more details uni-goettingen.de/rtg2756 #biophysics #jobs Applications welcome!
New paper out in Nature Comms "Non-reciprocity across scales in active mixtures" rdcu.be/dp9TS - many thanks to Alberto Dinelli, Jérémy O’Byrne, Agnese Curatolo, Yongfeng Zhao and @JulienTailleur for a fun collaboration!
A fun new paper with unexpected insights into composition-dependent phase separation phenomena in multicomponent mixtures - great work from Filipe Thewes!
New mechanism identified in complex mixtures by researchers at our Uni: unexpectedly, a molecule that is only slightly more common than the others in a mix can lead to it almost entirely separating out from the rest: uni-goettingen.de/en/3240.ht…, doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.… #biophysics
New paper with Adrian Baule now out on "Exponential increase of transition rates in metastable systems driven by non-Gaussian noise", see rdcu.be/c68YT
Comments welcome!
New aging physics in active glasses: local "stirring" by active forces can drive rather than interrupt aging.
Aging affects not just living beings. Materials, eg plastics and glasses, also age as their particles try to pack better. Physicists at our Uni used computer simulations to find out more in “living” glassy systems: ogy.de/dhke, doi.org/fjkp @PhysRevLett
Here's a recent output applying non-eq stat mech techniques to developmental biology - comments welcome!
Preprint update: how do precise boundaries of gene expression form in developing tissues?
Lots of recent attention on noise in extracellular gradients & differentiation adhesion to correct mistakes
But here we find the GRN can also suppress noise

@KingsITsystems Very laggy on nmscde001150.nms.kcl.ac.uk today, slow loading of external/internal websites, also slow file server access. Why?
Cannot log in from thunderbird - via owa seemed to work but now fails, ref a78cdc6f-31fc-4568-a04c-dd36b8a5f829
@KingsITsystems Hi bastion.nms.kcl.ac.uk says connection on port 22 refused - any idea why? my id stty3189
@KingsITsystems All old messages from my inbox have disappeared in the last hour, only new ones arriving. Help! stty3189
@KingsITsystems Server issues? No email login via thunderbird or outlook web app; status page internal.kcl.ac.uk/it/suppor… does not load either.
