Over the past few years, I've often wondered what's left for us when AI can handle most of the execution. I decided to explore that question by putting my thoughts into writing. riccardobusetti.me/posts/kno…

one of my first touchpoints with developing software was game development. loved the coding, but got frustrated by the visual parts of it. maybe it’s time to get back for fun now?
man i tried so many different approaches to build nice models for a game concept i had and this is the first one that's producing good results

what can be built on object storage will be built on object storage.
We're making Git hosting more reliable, performant, and scalable. This post traces 20 years of Git infrastructure and explains how that history led us to design and operate our Git storage, Origin, as if it were a database. cursor.com/blog/git-at-any-s…

I lead migration efforts at @PlanetScale and I’d say 90% of the most painful migrations we’ve seen have been due to queue workloads in Postgres. At scale it consumes system resources disproportionate to data size. generally requiring near constant auto-vacuums and a battle for contention with other queries. The referenced post dances around this scale challenge. So while it works.. for a bit.. it often leads to premature db scaling challenges when other techniques/archs wouldn't. wrong tool for the job, nearly always, IMO
Postgres actually scales if you use it right.

yall im ngl its way harder to get joy and satisfaction out of building with ai than it was before constantly straddling burn out, being far less immersed in hard problems, constant context switching i’m tired of the uncertainty of where this is going and how to do it well

I have been meeting up with most of my local friends once a week to play magic the gathering for almost two years now and few routines have had a bigger positive impact on my life.

machinen.dev/ - boot once, run everywhere. A MicroVM that runs on hardware you already own. Close your laptop and it hands off to another host. Works across macOS, Linux, and Raspberry Pi. (aarch64)

A common dynamic I observe with AI: it feels most impressive when you don’t know much about the subject, don’t care or don’t have a clear idea of what the you want. This applies across design, code, legal, and more. If I don’t know code very well, every piece of code it writes feels very impressive. Once you know what something should feel or look like, it becomes almost impossible to guide AI there. And you definitely can’t one-shot it.
