“you just want to borrow them.” she ( jokingly ) glared, corners of her mouth lifting into a soft smirk.
“dramatic, eventful— whatever you want to call it.” she shrugged, flipping to the next page of the magazine. “maybe we should leave newport.”
“then i guess i’ll never stop saying it.”
she nudged her best friend playfully with a small smile, fingers idly fidgeting with the corners of the pages.
“you didn’t miss anything. well, not really. i bought four new purses. but you’re the one with the dramatic life, coop.”
she let out a tiny satisfied hum, turning her attention back to the drama that was ensuing on the screen in front of them.
after getting far too engrossed— ( and summer answering every single question he asked ) they had finished an entire season.
the screen faded
—
“coop, have i ever told you how much i love you? because it’s a lot.”
she’s wasting no time grabbing at the magazines, immediately flipping through the pages.
and she’s glaring again, head tilted— surely he wasn’t serious, right?
he was absolutely serious. she took a breath and counted to ten in her head before replying.
“cohen. i was watching the valley. alone. and ( you ) interrupted ( me ).”
she pressed her palm to his shoulder, pushing him hard— not hard enough to hurt . . that bad. force of habit.
“ohhh, a radioactive spider. sure. why didn’t you just say so? that makes total sense!” the sarcasm HEAVY.
she can’t comprehend his confusion— it made perfect sense in her mind. but maybe that was because she had seen every episode a billion times.
aaand now she’s frowning, disappointed in his lack of enthusiasm.
“unrequited love is like, the saddest thing ever.
—
“you would know what was happening if you paid attention and stopped asking so many questions.” she shot him a glare. this was serious. well, to her it was.
“her stalker is her ex boyfriend’s twin brother who is secretly in love with her.” as if that had cleared
—
she had already been holding her breath, anticipating this very moment— cue the dramatic huff, grabbing the remote to pause the scene.
“april ( just ) found out that jake kissed her best friend at a party. oh, and she also has a stalker. keep up, cohen.”
( she signalled for him to lead the way. following close behind begrudgingly, arms folded like a petulant child. it wasn’t exactly her idea of heaven, but surely she could survive five minutes. )
i highly doubt that unless the comic book store is called victoria’s secret.
( cue the look of sheer disgust, lips parted, brows furrowed. )
there’s a store for that? ew.
( then, she paused. watching him willingly hold her ridiculous amount of bags, letting out a defeated sigh. )
fine. five minutes.
exactly. that’s why i always need new clothes. keep up!
( the very fact he was still standing in the mall was enough enduring any human could possibly achieve. she glared at him as if it was common sense, clapping her hands together. )
okay— but i have nothing to wear!
( she’s frowning, arms folded stubbornly. shopping with summer required a special kind of endurance. )
do you want ice cream or not?
