“abuse often does not feel like abuse. it feels like confusion.” bc you are seeing everything as isolated events in different rooms. it’s like a game where the floor keeps moving and you think you’re in a new position in the relationship, but someone is still controlling the game and throwing you into a new box.
you cannot stop anyone from withholding clarity though. abuse feels confusing because of shifting issues and not having enough distance to see the big picture. the significance isn’t clear until you view everything together, across a span of time.
