Superman and the Hulk might be two of the strongest heroes in comics, but their greatest difference has nothing to do with strength.
Superman spends much of his life holding back because he knows how easily he could hurt someone. Hulk often struggles to control the very power that makes him dangerous.
One fears what happens if he stops restraining himself. The other fears what happens when he loses control.
That’s what makes their confrontations interesting beyond the question of who would win. Superman represents power guided by discipline, while Hulk represents power fighting against its own limits.
Put them in a situation where neither can simply walk away, and the real battle becomes more complicated than a strength contest.
