That time we accidentally dropped an atomic bomb on ourselves…. On March 11, 1958 a U.S. Air Force B-47 flying over Mars Bluff, South Carolina accidentally, yes…released a Mark 6 nuclear bomb. The weapon was luckily unarmed (its nuclear core wasn’t installed) but the conventional high explosives still detonated on impact. It heavily damaged a family’s home by the name of Gregg, destroyed their playhouse and garage and injured six people. No one was killed and there was no nuclear yield or significant radiation. ☢️
