PM Meles Zenawi was 30+ IQ points smarter than this rambling idiot. The one thing I’ll give Isaias is his formidable will. He has the temperament of a medieval conqueror, hes stubborn, ruthless, and ofc consumed by power. Definitely not a statesman. Meles was schooling European heads of states.
And here’s a grab of our 1st interview with the Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki 3 years ago. When he literally agreed to sit down with me at a hotel lobby. Sharing his views on the reasons behind the war in Ukraine & why Eritrea voted against the UN resolution to blame Russia

“Have you returned unharmed, men of the expedition? Where have you left your king? Even the offspring of an ape carries away the body of its fallen companion, yet you have abandoned your king's body to the enemy!” - Tigrayan saying

For 81 days, during the autumn of 2021, General Ahferom and his division of Army 22, Corps 223, held their positions around Gashena under unimaginable and uninterrupted pressure. His formation occupied something like 15 kilometres of defensive ground, with enemy forces threatening most of its perimeter and only two routes remaining for the movement of supplies and ammo. Ahferom and his men spent those 81 days in trenches that had become waterlogged and thick with mud, the front was subjected to repeated assaults, artillery bombardments and heavy weapons fire, with casualties becoming part of the daily existence of the men defending it. Despite this the formation maintained its positions through conditions that would have placed a huge strain even on an experienced army. The fighting around Gashena was vicious. When Reuters entered the area in December, its correspondents encountered sophisticated zigzag trench systems, tanks blown apart, trees shattered by shellfire and artillery positions still firing into the surrounding countryside. An amhara militia man described hand to hand fighting taking place, and how TDF fighters would come out at night to collect ammunition and or food from killed Ethiopian soldiers. There was one noteworthy incident involving Ahferom's soldiers that occurred during the ethiopian new years in september 2021. when the men were given the opportunity to request something for the holiday, they did not ask for sheep, goats or chickens like other TDF armies with which to celebrate. Instead, they requested shovels, picks and digging equipment to strengthen their defensive positions. This paints a revealing illustration of the conditions inside those trenches.. While other TDF formations advanced through the dessie debre berhan corridor, his division remained engaged on the Gashena front, contesting an important junction linking several operational directions in north wollo. What is surprising about Ahferom's command is the preservation of military discipline under those circumstances. An army that lacked ammunition and supplies subjected to prolonged bombardment and mounting casualties would usually lose its cohesion, but his didn't. The men themselves deserve equal attention. Among them was gebremeskel gebreselassie, a young heavy machine gunner from adwa who fought with ahferom's division and showed great bravery after having abandoned university to join the war. He survived the Gashena fighting but was later killed in a drone strike as the formation moved toward Istayish in december. The Gashena front was eventually recovered by ENDF soldiers during their december counteroffensive. Eitherway, the 81 day stand is just extraordinary. The fact that the men continued to occupy those miserable defensive positions for almost three months.

I have thousands of photographs and hundreds of books on Habesha (Tigray, Tigrinya, Amhara) history saved on my computer. Maybe I should share them with others interested in our history, or compile them together on a website that anyone can access for free.
