People will look out challenging their brains, pushing limits sans AI
“It’s the only class I took at Harvard where people would call each other out for not having done the reading.”
Harvard students are lining up to take Hum 10:
“Applications (essays required) shot up 40% this fall with 180 incoming freshmen vying for 90 spots.”
“The class is definitely not for padding the GPA. Students read a hefty book a week and write regular essays. There is no pass/fail option. Digital devices are verboten, and attendance is taken in every lecture (pink slips for those who arrive late).”
“In their applications and in interviews, students expressed the urge to be forced to tackle classics they otherwise wouldn’t read, the need to combat frayed attention spans and the desire for an antidote to The Machine. Several mentioned with disdain that people who aren’t in the class wondered why they didn’t ‘just Chat the books,’ i.e., use AI.”

Somehow, @srajagopalan and @lachygroom have managed to fund a hard-tech revolution in India.
There's something rather massive going on, and everyone else has missed it.
Our story - corememory.com/p/a-new-india…
This is the real problem with adult friendships.
We fret about our houses being messy forgetting long evenings spent with friends in tight apartments, with a bottle of wine and a quicktly put together dinner. Now it all has to be perfect before someone steps in.
And this is me too. Calling myself out
Someone should build a "Where is Neha" bot so interested people can track if she is in jail or free

But what is life if you cannot even travel and see distant lands
"I belong to a generation which believes that social media is not separate from physical spaces.."
In every generation of political leaders, there is someone who gets tech / social media in a way that it leaves everyone else miles behind
Thats Neha Bora for India right now
'I belong to a generation which believes that social media is not separate from physical spaces.. if I had one eye on the camera, I would have probably fallen off the barricade!' says @neha_aisa on becoming an Insta viral face.
Yes please. You did start it all.
The internet should help us find our people. Friendship. Community. A place to belong.
Help me bring Orkut back in that spirit. Add your name at orkut.com and share your supporter card with someone you want to bring along.

I want robots that do the annoying things humans suck at. For example, blow drying hair and making it look salon level.
Can someone build that. Bet a lot of women would pay a lot of money for that
What wayne does not get (or pretends not to) is that the Indians who win spelling bees are ones who show early talent for it. No untalented striver is going to win a spelling bee
“You don’t study for the spelling bee” is a deep and important aspect of American culture. I was at a baseball game discussing some young players with a buddy one time and he said to me offhandedly, “hard work is fine, but nothing beats talent.”
Americans have this sort of sense that there’s something a little off about working really hard to get good at something that you’re not naturally good at. You’re never really going to be on the same level as the guy who has a natural talent. We have room in our hearts for scrappy little guys who work hard, but we are by default suspicious of grinders and strivers.
If you were really meant to do it, then you’d be naturally good at it. You sign your kids up for little league, but you don’t take it too seriously unless they show remarkable early talent.
Yes, this sounds sort of ridiculous if you take it too literally. No, nobody is saying that there’s any kind of practical test for this or that anybody should be excluded because we found out that they secretly studied too hard.
But this is a part of American culture. And if you can’t understand it, then that just marks you out as foreign to that culture to an even greater degree.
We need a back translator too. From Claudish to English

so well put:
"The reason to go to a good college/university is no longer for knowledge. It is to meet people who are better than you. People who can humble you and push you."
I went to grad school at Brown, post-doc at UC Berkeley. The people I met were the most important part of the those experiences. Smart, curious, passionate - I carry those lessons everyday
Replying to @Indrani1_Roy
Why am I telling you these?
The reason to go to a good college/university is no longer for knowledge. It is to meet people who are better than you. People who can humble you and push you.
In the past decade since I graduated, this has become all the more valid.
