Ben Fudge's latest paper published today! A very nice piece of research, combining high-res simulations and high-speed imaging @oxengsci @wadhamoxford rdcu.be/dKIAw with @rcimpeanu @alfonsoacp doi.org/10.1038/s41598-024-6…
Was delightful to have a pre-holiday chat about our work together with @FluidDanamics and @Minki_Kim40 on the computational modelling of cultivated meat products🥩with the @BBCCWR team. With massive thanks to the @GoodFoodInst and @thecmmc for recent #research project support💧🖥️

Thanks to @GoodFoodInst and @thecmmc for support!
Always fantastic to visit @uniofeastanglia and the group, it was a really productive (and enjoyable) trip, thank you for making it happen!
Replying to @rcimpeanu
@rcimpeanu with a great talk about bouncing and splashing 💦 at the @ueamaths Applied #maths and #stats seminar
We all learnt a bit more about computational modelling

🧵Delighted to announce the very recent open-access publication: doi.org/10.1016/j.jbiomech.2… of our interdisciplinary work to create a new needle 💉 design for #IVF and related medical procedures based on multi-phase #computational modelling. @uniofwarwick @WMI_research @UniofOxford
... is used to determine that lateral flushing capabilities for double-lumen needles have a highly consequential impact on biological matter aspiration success rate, using vortical motion in a non-invasive manner to prevent damage to the oocytes.
The early stages of the work have been encapsulated as part of #patent activities: patents.google.com/patent/US… supported by @OxUInnovation, with current follow-on activities in the veterinary space producing very exciting results. Watch this space!
A beautiful #experimental campaign accompanied by multi-scale direct numerical #simulation work to disentagle the delicate aspects of drop impact💧onto finite depth pools 🌊. All #openaccess in @JFluidMech, check it out: doi.org/10.1017/jfm.2023.622! @warwickmaths @WMI_research #cfd
How does pool depth affect droplet impact dynamics? Newly published in @JFluidMech, led by @FluidsTom with @alfonsoacp @rcimpeanu @RafaelCastrejon. For deep pools, the ejecta sheet remains separate and folds inwards, breaking up in the process... doi.org/10.1017/jfm.2023.622

This was quite the epic one! Record 💧 consumption before 9am for sure #loveparkrun @parkrunJP
My second @parkrun ever: 10000 km away from home, jetlagged, and under hot weather. But I think I survived!
Thanks @rcimpeanu and @susanatgomes for providing the very necessary peer-pressure. 🤣
