I'm making a little shop fan because I'm sick of soldering fumes and burnt plastic going right in my face. Fixing up an old squirrrel cage fan. Tested on 12v dc and it ran strong. Goggle told me it was a universal fan and could be used on AC, said the dc was probably barely enough to spin it. (Wrong.) And that I could run ten times the voltage through it on AC. I didn't need that much more power, but I thought I'd try it out.
No it cannot be run on household AC, dammit. Googke said, well looks like 12dc was what it was meant for. And that 12v ac would work too. "A good learning experience." Thanks, after frying my motor, shit for brains.
Sure, stick it in the wall socket. More power.
So I'm thinking of rewinding the armature, because it was working quietly and perfectly.
The coolest thing was I had the cage fan but I had to make the shroud. It was turning out great.
My first scientific experiment was when I was four. I stuck the leads to an electric motor in a wall socket. It blew and left a carbon burn mark that got me in trouble.
Not bad for a four year old. Hey, it was an electric motor. That was bad for Google. When I said it ran fine at 12v DC it should've said it's universal... it'll run at 12v AC too. Not 120, dammit.

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admirationΒ for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.
Bird throws a walleyed shitfit. Just like when we were kids. Okay, me. Did my dad invent "walleyed shitfit," or is that common?

I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenigβs passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.

Elon has repeatedly called for peace, and his message remains the same. The killing must stop.
"I have no respect for the warmongers, and the war profiteers and those who want the war to continue forever. There must be peace. It is time for the slaughter of young men to stop."
Replying to @johnhawkinsrwn
Yeah, this retard is so fucking dumb that he doesnβt realize that our policies serve the Ukrainian people.
Pieces of shit like this want the war to continue until every last man in Ukraine has died in a ditch.
They are utter scum of the Earth.
PSA: left wingers in healthcare cannot ignore things like MAGA hats. From a professional standpoint, your feelings are utterly irrelevant. Anything less is unethical or illegal. But they can't generate the metal horsepower to pull that off. Not all of them, of course.
I canβt believe this but I gotta do it. I never wanna hear MAGA NURSES CANβT BE NURSES. The shit I hear from liberal nurses is beyond unprofessional. I hope this nurse learns from this report Iβm about to make on her. Iβm just glad I stepped in and helped the patient who was attacked by 2 random people.

π¨ JUST IN: VP JD Vance MIC DROPS European bureaucrats and fake news attacking Elon Musk, then BEGGING for him to unleash Starlink for Ukraine
"I do find it a little IRONIC that the European countries who have NOTHING like the technology that Elon has developed in Starlink...these countries have almost universally decided to wage regulatory and licensing WAR against SpaceX. And now they're all running to SpaceX saying, 'please do what we need you to do?!'"
π₯π₯π₯
"European countries depend on American technology, American businesses, and the American military, while at the same time European political leaders love to bash the United States allies that they depend upon so much!"
"Elon Musk runs a private corporation. And I think it's completely understandable that he doesn't want to get in the middle of what is a war between two state actors without the United States government effectively directing him on what to do."
@ElonMusk is their favorite guy to bash...then they turn around and act entitled to his technology.
Same countries that want to fine and regulate him into oblivion!
This comes right after WSJ claimed that Musk ordered a Starlink slowdown that caught Ukraine off guard. Because of course they'd claim that!
The EU fined X under its Digital Services Act and has spent years going after Elon. Now Europe needs his satellites π€‘
They can't have it both ways. Vance nailed it.
