Do you think the current "bug tsunami" is bad? I just did back-of-the-envelope math and estimate the number of the number of critical, undiscovered vulnerabilities in widely-deployed OSS projects is conservatively 2,000 to 10,000, with 100-300 "PhP grade" - get ready

And based on what I'm seeing in my feed, the security of closed-source software isn't any better. It's no harder for AI to decompile an executable than it is to trawl through GitHub repos

To be fair, there are things about OpenShell that I like, and important features that xshell has designed that I think OpenShell is lacking. But it's good to see that agent accountability and reliablity are now first-class concerns for production workflows

Clearly these gym scrubs have not mastered the /goal function
Only in SF. No vibe coding between sets. Be present. Lift harder. Ship later.

As many are looking to build agentic/generative/AI CAD, we have focused on building the tools that agents need to become engineers, following the same rules we do.
Replying to @rdevaul
and yes, this is real, functional suspension -- no conventional CAD tools used, just agents and github.com/rdevaul/yapCAD

What's this? Only a fully agentically-designed model "mars" rover with parts you can 3D print and build yourself. 100% agent-designed, 100% open-source. Thanks to @GeKinsman @jeremymika and @AWERXAI β€” check out github.com/rdevaul/yapRover for full details

proving that you can print and build the github.com/rdevaul/yapRover β€” grab and agent and build your own project with 100% open-source agent-first advanced CAD: github.com/rdevaul/yapCAD
We’re not just vibe coding hardware, we’re using agents to take hardware through the entire design for manufacturing loop

Twelve foot skelly deployed - if I can hack the Bluetooth interface I’ll have it making snarky commentary on your Halloween costume when you walk past :)

This is insanely cool
My dear friends, I’d like to show you my latest toy project Introducing Handwired: turn your regular JavaScript code into a neural net! - no training - exact outputs vs the JS program - fully differentiable All runnable in a browser, without GPU

This makes me sad. There are many valid arguments about LLMs and β€œmind”, but unless you ascribe mystical powers to meat sacks, this is not one of them. You can build a computer from beer cans or rubber duckies - if mind is mechanistic, you can do the same
If you had enough resources, you could run an LLM on a wooden system of gears and diesel power. It would be massive, but watching the gears and levers move, it would be evident that the outputs are not the result of a mind. Part of the illusion of LLMs is the tiny scale of GPUs.

If you are interested in AI for advanced manufacturing and generative/procedural design, you should check out my yapCAD project. Turn your CAD into code and let superintelligence do the grunt work for you. github.com/rdevaul/yapCAD

Wow. This puts my obsession with building CAD tools in perspective. Also, how was work like this permitted post hoc?
Once in a while you stumble upon true weapons-grade autism that makes everyone else look like LARPers. Incredible work.

This is interesting, but it would be very challenging to develop a base model with no prior knowledge of physics - there is too much physics in typical training data sets
