Building good RL environments is hard.
We're introducing a way to turn anything into RL-environments with REA using the open source AgentEnv framework from @ScaleAILabs
Any site, app, or game can now easily be turned into an env 😉
Matt is a huge inspiration to open-source builders everywhere
It was really nice to be on a podcast with someone who personally inspired my journey
We talked about REA, inspiring people to create and share their own things and the future of software

It's not about the death of software. It's about unlocking human creativity.

He wouldn't take it. "I'm a very small servant. I'm just the Discord reply guy." Have you seen your star count, sir?

He saw a video of how I ship so many PRs as a non-technical founder. "I hadn't even taken open source that seriously at the time. I was like, wow, if Matt's doing this, why don't I give it a shot?"
🤖 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 @garrytan.
Morluto was the first outside PR to GStack. Garry retweeted a YC launch, Morluto spent 20 minutes insisting the founder was a bot, and reverse engineered the app to make it up to him. That became REA.

"There's so many people I've seen that they're committing to GitHub for the first time and opening PRs and opening issues because they want it to be better."
🥷 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀
"What is big about REA isn't the code. It's actually the idea, that moment where people realize that everything can be rewritten."

"When you consider anything, what is it that you want to build and what will you build?"
incredibly awesome way to learn!
I built a guitar tuner that handles alternate and fully custom tunings.
I knew nothing about pitch detection. So I used @reatools to break down how GuitarTuna works, then rebuilt it myself.
Through this project, I learned the algorithm behind tuning, how sounds are converted into frequencies and translated into cents, and how tech like AudioWorklet works.
This is the best time ever to learn by building!

this is incredible!
ps. i love omarchy
I used Reverse Engineer Anything to re-create raycast on @omarchy. And I was blown away! In just a couple hours I have a fully-functioning raycast-like launcher! Right now it:
* Learns your habits
* Apps + every Omarchy action in one search
* Aliases & favorites
* Keyboard-first
* Follows your Omarchy theme live, opens in ~40ms

we're going to make rea a lot more robust in the upcoming v6.8 update
ive been reading the posts + watching youtube videos @tonbistudio
there will be a big focus on making it more comfortable for agents to use + adjustable so they can directly recover without human input
There are 50 starting RL environments built on MIT licensed applications, see any you recognise?

Huge shoutout to @earakely for working on this with us!
And a big thank you to @henloitsjoyce for the video, made with @hedra_labs

Today's YouTube video is about REA: Reverse Engineer Anything!
In this video, I break down how REA works, and then actually use it to reverse engineer a video recording app to help improve the custom recording app I am building
Thanks again to @morluto , @reatools , and the community for all the great work!

AI doesn't replace you. It amplifies you.
Over lunch, I discussed with my professor: know the fundamentals and where you're going, and AI multiplies you. If not, it makes you dependent.
So what matters most now is agency.
I don't think I'm smart. I’m just willing to spend the time and turn ideas into things. This week that meant using REA to take apart GuitarTuna and learn what's under the hood. More on what I built soon. 🎸
Best time ever to learn by building.
Agency is all u need.
incredible tech
I was tired of how laggy and slow my Samsung TV was… so /reverse-engineer-anything went brrrrrrrrttt on Tizen.
A clean launcher and home screen with no autoplay random free tv channels.
@morluto created a monster.
rea v6.7 now live!
sorry for the wait
