the goal of reddit marketing isn't to make people think "this brand wants my money."
it's to make them think "damn, that actually helped."
one builds trust. the other gets you downvoted into oblivion. 😭
before launching a product, search reddit for:
the problem you're solving
competitors' names
"alternative to [competitor]"
"i wish there was..."
"why is [problem] so annoying?"
you might find your positioning, your biggest objections, and your next 10 content ideas before spending a dollar on ads. 😎
want to know what your customers actually want?
stop guessing.
open reddit.
find 20 people complaining about the same problem.
congratulationsss, you now have better product research than that 47-slide brainstorm deck. 😎
reddit users will write a 2,000-word essay explaining why your product sucks but won't tolerate a 2-sentence promotional post 😭
brand discovers reddit.
brand creates account.
brand immediately posts "hey guys, check out our amazing product!"
reddit: absolutely not.
marketing lesson: you are joining a community, not buying a billboard.
marketers are optimizing for google.
meanwhile, someone is asking chatgpt which product to buy, and reddit comments are helping shape the answer.
your brand doesn't need to go viral.
it needs to be part of the conversation.
brand: we want to build an authentic presence on Reddit.
also brand: can we mention our product in every comment?
bestieee, the subreddit is a community, not your email list. 😭
the customer journey:
sees your Reddit comment
→ forgets about it
→ sees your LinkedIn post
→ googles your brand
→ asks a friend
→ buys 3 weeks later
the marketing report:
“conversion source: direct.”
i loveee this job. 😊
POV: you write a genuinely helpful Reddit comment, get 0 upvotes, and then see a comment saying “this” get 200.
brand: “how do we make our Reddit presence feel more authentic?”
also brand when someone comments: “thank you for bringing this to our attention.”
GIRL 😭 just reply like a normal person.
unpopular opinion: not every Reddit conversation needs your brand's input.
sometimes the smartest marketing move is to listen, learn what people actually need, and shut uppp for a minute. 😭
“can you just make a quick post about it?”
the quick post in question requires:
- audience research
- competitor analysis
- 3 rounds of revisions
- 24 open tabs
- questioning your career choices
marketing in 2026:
discover a trend
→ research the trend
→ pitch the trend
→ get approval for the trend
→ produce the content
the trend died 3 days ago.
Redditors: having an actual conversation
brands: “we appreciate your interest in our products and services.”
😭😭😭
and then they wonder why nobody wants to engage with their account.
marketing is so funny.
you spend 5 hours on a campaign: 200 impressions.
you post a random thought while eating lunch: 20k impressions.
sureee. makes perfect sense. 😭
your Reddit marketing report says:
- barely any engagement
what it doesn't show you is the person who read your answer, remembered your brand, and came back to buy 2 weeks later.
engagement isn't the wholeee story. 😌
when I try to make a brand sound like a real human being but the feedback says “can we make it more professional?”
