I've fought long and hard over which color palette I like better on Matt for years now and I think I've finally settled

Bingo. They needed to make something acceptable for the general audience who requires all the information laid out for them to follow. The type of people who can turn it on and scroll on their phone. They gave fans some nice little Easter eggs but absolutely blew it on ep7-8
Crystal Lake was made by people who genuinely think Jason went from an 11 y/o boy in Part 1 to a grown man in Part 2 in-between movies

Friday the 13th doesn't need to exploit women's bodies for views.

Obsession was created to see who hadn’t seen any Horror films in their entire life until that one came out
Post-Rewatch ranking of the Friday The 13th franchise
I'd place Crystal Lake between Part 1 and Part 3 honestly
As a regular TV show, 7/10. As a Friday the 13th show, 4/10 at best

Betsy Palmer’s 1980 Pam is the only one that actually works as a pure slasher threat. She’s cold, unhinged, and zero sympathy—just a mother who decided the counselors had to die.
Nana Visitor’s 2009 version barely counts (a quick origin flashback, not a real performance). Cardellini’s Crystal Lake Pam is the weakest of the three for horror purposes because the series spends so much time humanizing her grief, her bond with young Jason, and her “descent.” Once you understand her too well, the fear drops.
The original movie (and the early novelizations) kept her mythic and monstrous. The new series turned her into prestige-TV trauma. Palmer still clears both.
Which Pamela Voorhees would you least want to run into at camp, Palmer, Visitor or Cardellini? #CrystalLake
