The Garvaghy Road standoff was always going to end badly for unionism - if the protest had been clubbed off the road, it would have been far worse for them. Brexit in parade form.
Any attempt by Burnham to tackle the injustices of England’s imperial past should begin with Scotland and Ireland and work from there.

For almost 30 years, the British state has failed to deliver justice for Sean Brown, the south Derry GAA chairman murdered by loyalists in 1997. Once again this week, instead of allowing an independent public inquiry into the killing and its links to state agents, the British government has dragged his family back to the Supreme Court in London in a renewed attempt to prevent one. republican-news.org/current/…

A street full of civilians.
An ambulance in the middle.
Then a massive explosion.
This is Gaza. This is genocide, live on camera.

JUST IN: 🇨🇭 We are seeing what could (hopefully) be the beginning of a European spring.
The cost-of-living uprising has now spread to Switzerland.
The economic state of Europe is cooked. Poverty, malnutrition, unemployment and homelessness are prevalent and skyrocketing. I suggest you take a moment to Google it and see just how bad things are.
And yet our politicians in Europe refuse to do literally anything about it. We are still being gaslit and trying to get them to admit there’s even a problem. Which is insane.
And to add insult to injury European governments aren’t just ignoring the permanent collapse in living standards they are wasting countless billions on pointless wars and self-defeating sanctions, enriching only the epstein class.

On Halloween night 1920. Kevin Barry prepared for execution the next morning, with support from his college friends.
'The boys from the college were up outside the gate and they said the Rosary. They also sang the Soldier’s Song, which did me more good than you can imagine.'

Despite their repeated condemnations of non-existent IRA activity over the Drumcree standoff, unionist politicians have so far failed to comment on a shocking new investigation in which a UVF figure openly states they are still sending weapons to Ireland to ‘fight the war’. republican-news.org/current/…

The Met Police are saying anyone giving logistical support at tomorrow’s Palestine Action protest risks being arrested.
These peaceful protests involve elderly people sitting for hours in the cold, so people are needed to give out water, sustenance, and blankets.
Disgusting 😡

Looking forward to the comprehensive PSNI investigations & media updates for *every* illegal bonfire site next summer.
They’re setting quite the precedent for this ‘law & order’ push.

I welcome the Irish Government’s announcement of this important step forward on the road to Irish unity.
This is an opportunity we must seize. Preparations must now move forward with urgency, with the resources, ambition and inclusive approach needed to shape our shared future.
This process must be inclusive from the outset, with everyone having a meaningful opportunity to contribute and have their say in shaping the future of our island.
