A Lola rant…. ❤️🐾 A REMINDER KINDNESS MATTERS. Today, one of our volunteer adoption coordinators was on the receiving end of a phone call from an angry family member of an applicant who was not selected to adopt a particular dog. Unfortunately, the call involved yelling and behavior that no volunteer should ever have to endure. We understand that being passed over for a dog you have fallen in love with can be disappointing. We truly do. But disappointment does not give anyone the right to verbally attack, berate, or disrespect our volunteers. We want to take this opportunity to explain a little more about how our adoption process works. 🐾 WE DO NOT OPERATE ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS. We typically accept applications for a dog over a designated period of time. Our adoption coordinators then review those applications and contact the applicants who appear to be the best potential matches based on all the information we have on a pup. Our job is not simply to find a home for a dog. It is to find the RIGHT home for THAT dog. We consider things like: * Activity level and lifestyle * Other dogs or cats in the household * Children and household dynamics * Fencing and exercise needs * Time spent alone during the day * Medical, behavioral, and individual needs An applicant can be a wonderful, loving, responsible dog owner and STILL not be the best match for a particular dog. Not being selected does NOT mean you are a bad pet owner or that your home isn’t good enough. It simply means we believe another home may better meet that individual dog’s needs. Sometimes we may even suggest a different dog who we believe would be a better fit. Or we offer a pre-approval. ❤️ NOW, ABOUT OUR VOLUNTEERS. Rescue Coop is run by VOLUNTEERS. People who have families, jobs, responsibilities, and lives outside of rescue. People who spend their evenings reviewing applications, checking references, coordinating transports, arranging veterinary care, answering messages, and trying desperately to save dogs who otherwise might not get another chance. They do it because they CARE. And they absolutely do not deserve to be screamed at, insulted, threatened, or treated disrespectfully because an adoption decision didn’t go someone’s way. We take adoption decisions very seriously. Many of our dogs travel long distances to their forever homes. Returns are incredibly stressful for the dogs, emotionally difficult for everyone involved, and costly for a small rescue. We owe these dogs our very best judgment. They have already been failed by humans at least once. We are determined to do everything in our power to prevent that from happening again. We will never guarantee someone a particular dog simply because they applied, and we will never compromise a dog’s best interests to avoid upsetting an applicant. We welcome respectful questions and conversations about our decisions. What we will NOT accept is verbal abuse directed at the people who give so much of themselves to this mission. Our volunteers deserve the same kindness, patience, and compassion that we ask everyone to show our rescue dogs. To the overwhelming majority of our applicants, adopters, fosters, and supporters who treat our team with respect: THANK YOU. You are the reason we can continue doing this work. And to anyone disappointed by an adoption decision, please remember: A “no” for one dog does not mean there isn’t a “yes” waiting for you with another. ❤️ At Rescue Coop, the dogs will ALWAYS come first. 🐾 Be kind. Our volunteers have hearts, too. Love, Lola (Me as a bee)🐝

Impawtant announcement!!! 👏 We recently announced our upcoming Howliday Auction Nov. 19-29! To be honest mom wasn’t sure if we’d do one because she just has a lot going on. Mom’s mind was changed with this urgent situation. Seeing that face. Living in the woods 3 years. Having litter after litter. Due any day, now approaching her senior years. We are not a rescue with puppy fosters so it’s a big undertaking to provide vet care for 8 weeks. But we couldn’t say no. Orchid was trapped Wednesday, arriving at our vet at midnight. Today she is in labor. Our auction proceeds will go towards vetting & a safe place for her and her puppies. She’s heartworm positive & has 2 tick diseases as well. If you’d like to donate an auction item, message mom. 🤗 We hope you’ll consider bidding for Orchid & her puppies 💜. More ta come!!!

pssst. Steve Carell will be available for adoption soon.
Replying to @callmelongfell2
He’s ready for a lifelong companion. He just needs a neuter. I have it scheduled. If you are serious about your inquiry, I would love to make that happen. @LolaPatolla is managing his adoption. Application links should be available this weekend.

PSA from the J girls…. If possible be extra kind with your donations and give Lola all the info and pictures, but keep the items and after auction mail them to the winners yourself. This is 2 fold helpful as it saves so much time and energy on Lola and gang mailing all the donations to winners. You would be sending them anyway, so it is not like you would be spending extra. Plus it also saves profits from the auction. We have always considered it like an extra donation. Whew, now we need a nap.
Pals!!! BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!! We are going to keep our Holiday Auction smaller but we’d still LOVE any items you’d like to donate & ship to winners! ♥️

It’s $5 Fri! Four faces saved this week. Vulnerable is the theme. A tiny 3 lb puppy found alone. A starved boy slated for death by his owner after months of neglect. A boy chained up and beaten. A blind confused senior girl, Saved. Because they ALL matter, rescuecoop.org/donate

It’s $5 Friday! When we saw this little face, mom cried. 10 yo, 13 lbs, blind, mostly deaf, a string of mammary masses. In a TX kill shelter. TX rescues are hard for us. But then mom saw the video. This poor little senior gal. We got her & she’s at our vet, Her shelter name was Alex. We are calling her Dolly. rescuecoop.org/donate

Texas was built by hope. By people who had no business believing — but believed anyway. To every Texan who’s ever wondered if anyone in power is paying attention: We are taking our state back. Because a little bit of hope is a dangerous thing.

I did some of the math! 4 Days + 1 plane + 1 car + 3 motels + 4782 miles + $5650 in donations = Steve Carell Thank you all so very much. Thank you for supporting @LolaPatolla & the @RescueCoop. I have worked with a lot of rescues, taking in the hard cases. Not a bad rescue in the bunch. That said, I have never had one as pleasurable and generous as the Rescue Coop. I’ve had rescues tell me they would host fundraisers or cover medical expenses and for one reason or another it has never come through. Rescue is tough. There’s always another animal to save. I get it. We’ve got this. And the there’s The Rescue Coop who over delivered. Kindness. Funding. Generosity. Support. Medicals. Rabies vaxx and microchip. And more. Loves ya ~ Tine 🐾 #OperationOfficeSupplies 🏆
