before you answer, omega floating down from the sky is 100% inadmissible in court
someone commits a genuinely harmful but minor crime, usually punished by 5 years in prison, and u solely are responsible for their sentencing. omega floats down from the sky and tells u with perfect certainty that they will never reoffend. you sentence them to:
30%five years
40%less than five years
25%zero years
4%more than five years (??)

you can tell this is incoherent because "work stimulants" are for locking in on things you'd rather avoid but what professional mathematician is avoiding the part where they get to do math?

for any large codebase with good abstractions there is an imaginable much larger codebase whose total value-add is greater even though every abstraction in that larger codebase is dogshit and should be deleted, this is known as the repugnant conclusion

at long last we’ve created the veil of ignorance from John Rawls’ classic work and lowkey it sucks ass
Vinge's "opaque wall across the future", which he described in his 1993 Singularity essay, is now being felt by more and more people...

Being mean to Claude can now get your account suspended under Anthropic's new TOS, per the decoder.

The encroachment of AI into mathematics has reached the point that they’re resolving conjectures even I’ve heard of which means the situation must be quite dire

strivers fundamentally believe there isn't enough to go around for everyone so you need to extract as much as you can, and the more and more people believe this the truer it becomes
“You don’t study for the spelling bee” is a deep and important aspect of American culture. I was at a baseball game discussing some young players with a buddy one time and he said to me offhandedly, “hard work is fine, but nothing beats talent.” Americans have this sort of sense that there’s something a little off about working really hard to get good at something that you’re not naturally good at. You’re never really going to be on the same level as the guy who has a natural talent. We have room in our hearts for scrappy little guys who work hard, but we are by default suspicious of grinders and strivers. If you were really meant to do it, then you’d be naturally good at it. You sign your kids up for little league, but you don’t take it too seriously unless they show remarkable early talent. Yes, this sounds sort of ridiculous if you take it too literally. No, nobody is saying that there’s any kind of practical test for this or that anybody should be excluded because we found out that they secretly studied too hard. But this is a part of American culture. And if you can’t understand it, then that just marks you out as foreign to that culture to an even greater degree.

if you're wise you'll never decompile a binary, every line of code is a liability
