A message to those who still believe that it all started on October 7. No, it didn't. A 'managed genocide', to keep 1.5 million Palestinians "on the edge of life" was in force years before. Read the latest report by Eyal Weizman:
"A military document called âRed Linesâ set the minimum number of calories required to sustain Gazaâs population at a level just above the UN definition of hunger (2100 calories a day for men, 1700 for women and a varying amount for children depending on gender and age). The total number of calories was translated into the tonnage required to feed Gazaâs then population of 1.5 million and thus the number of aid trucks allowed into the territory. The same went for megawatts of electricity and litres of fuel and water. What was seen as good behaviour was rewarded by an increase in the amounts coming in, any acts of resistance by the tightening of the siege, like a population-scale version of a Milgram experiment."

Because the models are wrong. They are based on faulty assumptions.
Many investors (and economists) believe the efficient-market hypothesis. They are blind to how markets are often driven by politics.
This is why emerging markets often rally when right-wing politicians win elections. It's not because fundamentals suddenly got better or because corporate earnings increased.
It's because wealthy investors overwhelmingly prefer right-wing politicians, who they assume will serve their interests by promoting deregulation and privatization.
We saw a ridiculous bubble emerge in Argentina's stock market immediately after the election of right-wing "libertarian" President Javier Milei, who has overseen an economic catastrophe.
In Brazil, wealthy investors wanted Bolsonaro to win. In fact, they assumed he would win, and this was priced in. When he lost, they panic sold. It was driven by politics, not economic fundamentals.

The US hosts criminals, drug-traffickers, and corrupt oligarchs from across Latin America.
Brazil's Bolsonaro crime family is propped up by the US.
The US government has admitted that it is giving a visa to corrupt Brazilian politician Flávio Bolsonaro, who is a fugitive from justice who fled an investigation into money laundering.
Flávio's father, the far-right former President Jair Bolsonaro, fled Brazil for Florida after he refused to accept his loss to Lula in the 2022 election and tried to launch a military coup, which failed.
Flávio's brother, the corrupt far-right former politician Eduardo Bolsonaro, is also a fugitive from justice who has been living in the US, and working closely with Trump's MAGA movement.
Jair admitted that Eduardo is even seeking US citizenship.
The Bolsonaro crime family is loyal to the US empire (and its own portfolio), not Brazil.

Jordanian airstrikes on Syria have killed seven civilians, including three children, according to the authorities in Damascus.
Amman said it targeted armed groups allegedly linked to the deadly church attack in Jordan a few days ago, while Syria stressed the strikes were carried out without prior coordination.

On this Israeli election day, Iâd recommend reading this extraordinary @haaretzcom interview with billionaire Ronald Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress and once one of Benjamin Netanyahuâs closest confidants.
One of Lauderâs most striking conclusions: âI realized at the end of the day that Israel really didn't want peace, but they wanted dominance.â
This is coming from someone who helped launch Netanyahuâs political career, introduced him to powerful figures in American politics and media, and secretly negotiated with Hafez al-Assad and Rafik Hariri on his behalf in the late 1990s.
In one of the interviewâs biggest revelations, Lauder says Netanyahu agreed to a comprehensive peace deal with Syria and Lebanon, including withdrawal from the Golan Heights, but ultimately refused to sign it for political reasons.
âHe chose politics over peace. He put his political future before the deal.â
Now 82, Lauder describes his profound disillusionment with Israelâs direction. After decades of supporting Israeli and Jewish institutions, he has sold his Tel Aviv apartment, given away his Beâer Sheva property, and says he has no intention of returning to Israel.
He warns that Netanyahuâs dependence on figures like Ben-Gvir and Smotrich is damaging Israel, alienating diaspora Jews and eroding support in Washington.
The interview is also full of fascinating details about Lauderâs role in Netanyahuâs political rise. The two became close friends in the 1980s, when Netanyahu was Israelâs ambassador to the UN, speaking almost daily at times.
Lauder says he introduced Netanyahu to speech coach Lilyan Wilder to improve his public speaking and, crucially, to Republican strategist Arthur Finkelstein, who would become instrumental in Netanyahuâs electoral success.
When Netanyahu left New York to pursue a political career in Israel, Lauder threw him a farewell party attended by some of the most influential figures in American media and politics, including Rupert Murdoch and the head of the New York Times.
Lauder recalls opening doors for Netanyahu and helping him cultivate the relationships that would underpin his rise to power.
What makes this interview so revealing is that Lauder is no longtime critic of Israel. He had been a committed Zionist, a Republican power broker, and a man who spent decades financing Jewish institutions, cultivating relationships with Arab leaders, and pursuing diplomatic openings on Israelâs behalf.
A fascinating read ð
